got a mate who has a can am renegade who has brunt out his belt - our local dealer wants $480 for a belt. Is this normal?
Another friend has tried dayco belts (about $80) instead but they don't last 3 hours...
anyone know where to get a belt that will last at a reasonable price? _________________ Family is most important.... next is our quads |

call phill @ shallow water atv he's the man, 0429 188 799, he will have h/duty ones soon, but the outlander 400 belt is cheaper and should last longer than the dayco , but you should also check the clutch system is all working ok eg ; bearings,

the belt on the 700 retails at about $160 or there abouts, not cheap, the USA KFX forums all say to stay away from those dayco belts, just not designed to go that fast ????

OK so I'm confused for 2 reasons, you say the kwaka forums reckon it's no good for high speed, does that mean it's alright for your KFX I've done some of my fitting trade on tractors and I haven't seen 1 fitted with a drive belt _________________ 10 LTR 555 Dingo

they cant handle the high RPM's or only last half what the oem belts do, kwaka recomend 100 hours and have a belt light on their belt driven quads, mine started to come apart on the second sighting lap at TP300, but was saved by the wonderful locals up there... cost price to I might add. _________________ 2005 KFX700

I've been keen to do a belt on one of the big Can-Am's, but it just won't seem to happen.
I really wanted to blow one before Safari just so I have experienced the exact riding condition where the problem occurs.
I've done 6 or 7000 kms now half of that at race pace, MX, Finke etc... and I've never blown a belt.
dam it!
$480 must be full retail and for a service type part, no-one is being nice to you there.
I have heard that Can-Am are looking at revising the price (cheaper).
They are a dear belt but from all the research Smitty and I have done, they still appear to be the best for the job.
Mike Penlin (US) reckons he can sit on 95mph all day on his race Rene and not blow a belt.
He just doesn't blow belts.
Definitely contact Phill from Shallow Water ATV 0429 188 799.
He is doing a lot of research on the CVT systems and belts.
I spoke to him yesterday and he has a new (suposedly superior) belt coming soon.
They will be cheaper and sound like they come from a very CVT experienced manufacturer.
Might be worth a try. _________________ Can-Am X Team
