hey guys i let my mate ride my bike maybe a mistake lol
he comes out of a ditch i was watching him and he only went slow but then stopped.. and the chain came off??? when i got there there was oil coming out of the bottom of the engine.. when i checked it..
i saw the gear selector and pushed through the bottom of the engine and snapped off a peice of block near the hole (where the selector comes out) and oil was pissen everywhere...
any "profanity removed" ideas wot the "profanity removed" happened??? _________________ 1 x yfz450 2007 all the fruit, looking for a second bike |

Yes, the chain bunches and bends the selector, smashing the case. I have seen a couple of Yamahas do the exact same thing and every time they were not repairable. A set of new engine cases please. _________________ DNA ATV Racing 09 KTM300EXC |

Fit a good quality aftermarket case saver and a fully enclosed type rear chain guide. This stops the chain from fully derailing and allowing all that loose chain to bunch. TM Designworks make a good one that bolts to the standard swingarm, call Hardimans. _________________ DNA ATV Racing 09 KTM300EXC |

had this happen to a mates yfz recently....although it only broke the lug off for the case saver. Checked and oiled his chain before riding, his axle bearing collapsed and threw the chain... _________________ 10 LTR 555 Dingo

That sounds way too dear. From memory the last set of cases we got were only about $800, and a shifter. That leaves a whole lot of labour and gaskets. Might pay to get a second quote. The parts to help prevent this would be lucky to weigh 1kg. _________________ DNA ATV Racing 09 KTM300EXC |

last one I did ended up at about $2300 all up but that also included all the bits so that id wouldn't do it again (swingarm Skid and chain guide, case saver etc.)and a new chain and sprockets, a few new bearings and a gasket kit. the only thing that was geniune was the cases though, $870 from yamaha if I remember correctly. _________________
