Well that's piss weak

So much for all the support given to Mick and the event in pass years.

The only true ATV event gone.

Prize money WHO CARES

Trophies WHO CARES

Flashy brochures WHO CARES

ITS all about the Riding .... Having a go ... been there having some fun..

Quads sales are Up ... The outlook is bright.

Mick give a go for all the people that have travelled across this country to support this event.

It's funny how so many people whinged when there was no premier atv event in this country and when a great ambassador like Mick and Tiff bust there ass and bring the best event that caters for so many different classes , then after a few years everyone complains that it is too hard, ,,,, I must be missing something as it is an endurance race and a good chance to meet with so many other people

I have raced once at the first thumb pump and twice at the current venue , and if you add up the klm in the 2012 thumb pump idone over 300 klm by just out riding towing people back and sighting and sweep riding , again this year I done just under 250 klm , again phil and yogie think of the bigger picture and the information will he right in front of you both, again as well my comments were not directed to you but if the cap fits wear it

And yes Yogie as far as I am aware you have only missed one event , hats of too you for ,that , but it takes riders and also people who help withthe event to make it all work , if there is too much negative feedback on the event how can anyone plan for future events

and why do you think there were so little entries this year ? because in 5 years there has been no track repair, and the so called repairing done this year, was none existent. but up we came, and for all my bitching and griping, I'll be back next year, and those that don't want to come for what ever reason, make them want to come back, and they will.

And like Huskey said NO PRIZES NO Tshirts and NO sponsers just a good enduro.
I don't know who said it but build it and they will come.

the bigger picture, no not too concerned about that, they need guys and gals to race and pay for the privilege to do it, and gladly I will do it, but the rest just follows the racers. And of course the guys like you make any event, and don't think we don't know this. But sadly you could ask every rider that did it and never came back a second time, and your answers could be truthful or not very truthful, regardless there are a lot that want to come back, but wont.

so numbers are declining for this event? that's disappointing. I've never actually been able to make it to a thumbpump. not that i'de ride but i'd like to spectate one day.
seems numbers are declining in all arenas of quadmotorcycle sport. speedway has been passionately debated as to why numbers are down in SA
motocross, not sure about all states but i'm pretty sure the tri state series went by the wayside because numbers weren't there, and here in SA neither club attracts the numbers to a mx event that we had in 2004 to about 2010-2011.
cant blame the GFC anymore, coz other sports and indeed motorcycling disciplines, are on the improve, so what are we doing wrong?
it's time to really stop and have a good look at the sport, and revitalise what was a rapidly developing calendar of club, state and national events.
is it rule changes? is it us as a group? is it the nature of the sport? is it the expense? I have my opinion, and it's a combination of definitely 3 of the above and perhaps even the fourth.
how about we collectively examine what is happening, or not happening maybe, and make suggestion.
however, we must allow freedom of expression to discover what everyone's thoughts are. locking threads because someone doesn't like somebody elses opinion will stifle any brainstorming and really defeats the purpose of having a forum

I think its one person ... Its his way or the Hi Way ... Lots of people chose the Hi way....

Run events that are People friendly but have your competitive part . No flashy stuff ... a reasonable trophy ... keep costs down ... and let clubs earn a dollar to keep them strong.

Numbers will come back . Good tracks friendly family people and time for a BBQ after

My 2 cents

yep im disappointed too. I have done 2012 tp & 2012 2013 finke. a real shock to find out how fit you need to be to do these races. but no complaining from me even after the 2200klm ea way. I been going to the gym etc since 2012 tp 300. my increased fitness lead me to cut 26 min off my 2012 finke time compared to 2013. I was going to do 2014 tp 300 ironman this time. I think the 2013 tp race nearly got cancelled as well. it went ahead at the last minute(for some) so the event lost its momentum. now throw in the x team situation etc causing more drama. ma should do a survey to try and find out whats going on with the riders cheers

I agree with a lot of what you said husky, we need to get back to growing a fledgling sport, I think we got too big for our boots way too soon.
gotta walk before you run
rule changes in recent years have made it less flexible to run "CLUB" events.
the emphasis on becoming a pro outfit has pushed out the comraderie and "clubby" mentality.
the width rule and the introduction of a pro 450 class have been limiting for us in more than one discipline. I am over debating the reasons why and refuse to carry it any further than that, so don't bother asking me. I have voiced my opinions in the right circles and been ignored and therefore any more of my time spent on it is wasted. This brings me therefore to my suggestion of "maybe it's us as a group". we don't seem to be able to resolve differences with any compromise.
then there's the nature of the sport, we have been getting some negative safety press lately too.
the fourth was expense, but really it's motorsport so it will never be cheap.
however, mick Andrewartha has been very successful in the past, in securing great event sponsors, both when he was president of QRASA and in his 47 industries ventures, that helped keep event running costs under control, and therefore entry and participation costs affordable. however low numbers of entrants means higher cost for those who do attend.

so in my opinion there are several things that need to be addressed and resolved before any improvement will be seen, and then in turn we may see the return of sponsors, riders, and family environments at competitive events. And maybe then 47 industries will be confident in resurrecting thumbpump without question.

Look mate if your commited put your name down like phil and me Smile and no doubt mick will be work out if its a goer or not. Check out the prev tp threads and pick up the excitment that was flowing and the anticapation of the "weekend" so talk it up in a positive light.
