Hey guys, after recently having my uninsured quad stolen http://www.ozatv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19730 ive been giving some serious thought to insurance for my trikes. I was just wondering who you guys use, how much its costs, what sort of cover you have etc.

got mine insured with jlt as well. fairly cheap for the cover they offer but make sure you read the conditions as it needs to be bolted down in a locked garage to be covered at your house

we use JLT Dirtbike Insurance
they can be hard to get hold of, especially if you have a query on a claim.
They do multiple bike policies which is why we use them
some companies are about $450 a bike, we have 4 for $900 and that includes extras valued to what theyre worth.
JLT cover in transit accidents and locked up in your trailer while your away from home, and at home lucked up as Jimmy says locked to an unmoveable object..

How did you get them to do this? They told me they only cover quads for fire and theft, not even covered in transit.

Hey mate, my quad is covered under home and contents with nrma if that helps.

BUT here is a link to some padlocks i got, there awesome! to get them of you need to cut them twice at each stem with a grinder ( impossible with bolt cutters) plus they scream ( alarmed when touched...110DB! )

http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=keyed+alike+padlock+Siren+Alarm+Padlocks+CHROMIUM+PLATTED%29%29%29%29FREE+P%2FH

Also what i did is get 4 of these, i put 2 heavy duty latches on the garage ( $28 from hardware) , one padlock on the front gate and then dyna bolted a u bolt to the ground and padlocked and chained it to the quads. Good luck to steal my quads, if i tried it would take at quickest half an hour with a grinder and the alarms going crazy!

I use Swann Insurance for both quads.

At home. Cover is for fire and theft but replacement is for standard bike only, not aftermarket or performance parts. Quad must be chained up in a locked garage or shed to an immoveable object which cannot be disassembled with hand tools.

On the trailer. Cover is for fire and theft plus damage if involved in a motor vehicle accident while in transit. Does not include loading or un loading. Quad must be chained through the chassis to a non removable part of the trailer and trailer must have anti theft lock on the hitch and tongue (if tongue is removable like reece hitch) All fairly simple to achieve.

In other words, physical violence must be used to steal the quad - like an oxy set or a grinder or they have to get the keys off you.

Thanks mate, I thought maybe I got someone from Suncorp that didn't know what they were talking about.

Sorry mate but i was wrong. After reading these posts and talking to a mate who had his bike stolen i decided to give nrma a call just to be sure if i was covered (the first time i spoke to a young girl who sounded like she didn't have a clue) anyway lucky i checked.... not insured under home and contents Mad
