Thinking of putting a steering dampner on my banshee.
Don't want something over the top , just want something to help
stop the bars getting torn out of my hands.
Any suggestions as what to go for ?

You forget how much difference it makes until you ride a quad that doesn't have one.

Yeah, go the PEP.

you will notice a massive difference between a pushrod style one, like the pep and a proper one like the elka, msc or precision.

i wouldn't ride a bike without a dampner ever.

I'm sure Uncle Lenny could kit up a PEP dampner that would sh!t all over any other brand. Wink Wink Wink

Maybe even go so far as to say "it's the best one on the planet"

I run a Precision, and while not cheap, they are good and 100% reliable.
A good steering damper takes out a lot of the negatives and is good at disguising things like poor steering geometry.
The best idea is to get the geometry as good as possible first.
Depending on what you are riding, i'd get a set of +2+1 arms and a set of 4+1 rims first.
Then you won't need a steering damper so much Smile

Good idea Bullet , but at this stage a dampner is a cheaper option

Yeah mate, it can be tough just trying to sort out which extra to work towards first.
It's easy to spend a lot of money trying to make a Banshee something that it isn't too. Keep talking to everyone to shape up where you want to be.
People like Adam from QuadSquad is always good knowledge and advice.

Haha Proper one !

Apart from Quads and Bikes everything else runs a rod style damper .

Rally cars,Race cars,road racers ...

It is resistance for the steering when a force hits and they both work.

I have run a PEP Rod style of damper for the past two years with team KTM and just won a National with one it never failed or faded.

PEP dyno test them for the correct resistance.

They are super reliable.

Without being negative, the rotary have fallen to bits, the arms bend the screws fall out ...I believe they are over rated .

The best thing we sell them for under $300.

typical lenny reply, going for the sell.

the only push rod style i would consier would be PEP, all others i wouldn't go near.

hey len this is for ATV's application anyway.

never has one fallen apart in my hands, useually only because they have not been installed properly or taken a big hit. i bet you the PEP one would bend easier if it took a hit, compared to an arm bending on a rotoary type one.

len only crawls out of his hole to make a sale.

Mick .

You wouldn't know what falls apart and you wouldn't tell if you are sponsored by them.

You only plug the stuff you get for free or are sponsored on .
