I just pulled 160kph with 240hp on a dyno and the gearing is way to tall..
I think some of you are kidding yourselfs on just how fast you think your going..
I have never been that fast on the sand before and im backing off in 5th after about a 3 second wot. |

come on ash tuffen up a bit.
i was racing two xr650's in top gear and i was pulling away, so that confirms how fast i was going.
how can you compare doing 160 on a dyno to riding on sand or a paddock?
or did you mean it has 240hp on a dyno and you just did 160 on the sand?
dont get me wrong it is bloody quick.
so how did she feel other then that? yours would be a bit more progressive then mine so you can slowly wind it on. what's the lag like?
when are you seeing full boost?
my wife has a 350rwkw turbo skyline so i know a thing or to about turbo's |

I reckon I was thinking the same way you were dangerman.
That a 1300 turbo in an off road dirt quad would struggle to use full boost.
The only time you'd get enough load at full throttle would have to be in the top gears. You'd need a kilometer of dead straight to get full boost for 2 seconds. But when he is pushing that top speed wall of wind, and the old snail starts doing it's job... man that thing will be hiking.
Your quads both look like really proffessional engineering, and I'm just jealous that I don't find the time to get out there and make my own monster.
Find yourselves a copy of a DVD called "The Britten Story" (I think thats the right name).
You'll love it. This Kiwi bloke builds a superbike and it kicks Dukes everwhere.
He also has a really interesting approach to aerodynamics. When they finished the bike they took it out with some timing gear and broke all the speed and acceleration world records at that time.
Really inspirational stuff. _________________ Can-Am X Team

Now someone just needs to get the quads there again so Dad or me can put this new banshee to use. It ended up on its lid last time before I even got a chance to see how it goes. _________________ Mic

Hi Mic
The bike that your dad has bought is the same bike that Stacy Sellar parked shinny side down and the same bike that I recorded the 177.47 kph a few race meetings later. But let me tell you, that it is certainly not anywere near the Quickest quad that I've thrown a leg over. ! ! ! !

to go that fast on a banshee with 20 inch tyres, it needs to do 11000rpm in sixth gear with 17/40 gearing.... how long is this straight? and how much horsepower does that banshee have?? _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |
