Hey guys a mate of mine wants to epxoy coat his 15m x 8m shed floor.
He wants a fleck/flake effect and a clear coat.
Does anyone on here have any experience with this? If so, which are the best products to use and where did you get them?
Thanks, Mark _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

The only one I know is from the big green shop (bunnings) and it isnt that cost effective, an old ride buddy of mine hired a concrete grinder and went back till he hit the aggreget and then hit it with a sander then 3 coats of concrete / slate ceal looks awsome. and easy to clean also if hedrops somthing on it or scratches it he just gives it a once over with more cealer. _________________ 04 Polaris Predator 500 with mods

There is a purpose made workshop floor paint you can get, but I don't know what it is called and i believe it is pretty expensive. Does anyone know the stuff I am talking about?

ill get back to you guys tonight as i painted my garage floor and driveway and its pretty awesom. the garage is starting to show signs of wear after 5 years of being walked on, dropped on and having trolley jacks dragged along it on a constant basis, where as the driveway has been subject to all sorts of weather, oil spills and leaks and constant scrubbing with degreaser and still no signs.

Mark,
Townsville Wholesale Paints sells a product called Epoxy Shield - its a DIY kit specific for workshop floors. I didn't think it was over the top expensive when i enquired about it. |

| Yeah have done this before to a garage floor. But did monster burnouts on the floor first then covered it. Looks unreal. |

I used this.
http://www.sigmacoatings.com/protective/downloads/00_7466.pdf
And it looks like this. No flakes or topcoat though.
Any specialist paint store should be able to supply flakes and a clear topcoat if you want to go that way.
A few tips.
* Choose a good epoxy, don't use cheap cr@p. Poor quality epoxy will lift under hot tyres and wear under heavy foot traffic.
* Preparation is critical. If you don't achieve a clean and porous surface the epoxy won't 'bond'.
* Don't go too dark or your never find anything dropped on the floor.
* You need a helper - they can help cut while you roll as pot life isn't long, they can check your mixes are correct, they can spot misses when your applying your second coat, etc.....
I love my floor. No concrete dust, oil spills wipe up with a cloth even after sitting for days and very easy to mop. As you can see I'm a bit @nal & like everything tidy _________________ Don't close your eyes during the crash, you'll miss the best part |
