Hey guys been reading up on this frigen spark arrestor and have been trying to pull it out for the past hour now.
I have pulled the screw out the bottom , let the bike idle for about 10min, and sprayed WD40 on it and it looks like a smashed crab and i still cant get it out!!!
What am i doing wrong?
Many thanks
Nik

as long as you have taken out the 6mm bolt on the bottom of the spark arestor on the end of the muffler , you should be able to pull it out . but if you can not do this grab some BIG multi grips and grab that small innet pipe on the spark arestor and pull shake wiggle etc be heavy handed it will come out. but whn you gerab it with the multi grips make sure 1jaw is in the center of the pipe and the other is outher is on the outside of the small pipe whent you pull it coz if you have the jaws on the out side of the pipe you will squash the end in and then it will be stuffed .. hope that makes sence.

The reason why it could be so hard to come out is there mite be a bit of rust in there and its sticking .

if that dosent work take the bike for a ride and try it while its hot .

Ooooo easy..... Turn and pull. If it won't turn hit the vice grips to help it turn anti clockwise pulling at the same time. That's all there is to it

For starters, piss that WD40 crap off and get some CRC Penetr8 into it. That will free her up nicely.

Maybe just hit it with a bit of Penetr8 each time you walk past it and try doing your normal local riding without the locator bolt in.
Spray it before you ride and after, so you catch it heating up and cooling down.
You or your mate behind you should hear it when the baffle eventually spits out.
Turn around and it should be right in the middle of the track behind you laughing

or as Vivian would say...
"this calls for a very delicate blend of child psychology and extreme violence." eek

Have you tried the Penetr8 yet? Of course not, otherwise you would be asking for my address to send the Chivas!

can you put a picture up of what your exhaust tip?

if you have allready melested it past the point of no return then grab a drill and drill 5 or 6 10 mm holes around the edge of the arester looking at it from the end. drill them in a smily face configuration and then get a screw driver and cave the outer part where it slides into the muffler inwards and it will fall out in your hands
2 minute job.
