Hi Dreth a few home truths what did you say $2.75 a gallon well in Aus your looking at around $1.20 a litre on a good day. What milk at what $3.39 a gallon we get two litres of milk for that. Bread is on par, electricity about the same, $1000 a month mortgage well i hope you only want to live in the outback cause you will be paying a lot more than that to live near a capital city in Aus you can tripple that. The rest is around the same . But expect to pay big bucks for your quad parts.

maybe they keep the crocs well fed by sending tourists first..... or by making sure you always go out with someone a lil slower than yourself....

Why the move !!!! Australia is the place to be that"s for sure, You have put the cat among the pigeons by asking what state you and your family would like to live in, May bee ask some one from each state to send some info about atv clubs and send some local jobs from the paper for you. Best of luck with the move.

$85 per month for hight speed internet and phone service. and $500 per month for our 4 door 4x4 ford truck

My wife and I just moved to Newcastle NSW from Seattle and like everyone is telling you expect to pay twice as much for everything. An F250 or F350 full size 4 door pickup will run you about $75,000 or more for a late model used one. I don't think they're sold new here so getting it worked on and finding replacement parts would be a pain.

Most people who drive trucks as their personal vehicle drive Toyota Hilux (basically a Tacoma) and similar sized pickups/utes. Today I priced a new 2010 Mazda B3000 4x4 crew cab pickup for $36,000 including $9,000 in savings, expect to pay at least another $10,000 for a Toyota. Cars aren't cheap either. Check carpoint.com.au for prices. Realestate.com.au is a good place to check housing prices or if you zoom in on an area in google maps, click the MORE button and select REAL ESTATE from the dropdown. You can filter by how much you want to pay and/or the number of bedrooms/bathrooms you want.

Internet data is all capped, you pay by the GB so for $80 you'll get between 5-50GB of data transfer per month depending on the area. There are some "unlimited" DSL plans but they're either priced ridiculously high or they cut the speed down so it's pointless if you are trying to stream video from sites like youtube. Telstra owns most all the infrastructure like telephone wires and poles and lease the use of it to other internet providers so Telstra is still the one setting the prices. Whirlpool.net.au has a comprehensive list of providers and download limits.

Quad prices are also higher. I could get a decent used Polaris Predator in Seattle for around $3,000. Expect to pay at least $5,000 here and of course non-Japanese brands aren't as popular so getting parts sometimes takes weeks or months. If you've owned and registered your honda for at least a year in Florida you can apply for a VIA and import it without paying tax but make sure it's spotless or customs will charge you a ton of $$$ to steam clean any dirt off it.

Another point of comparison is alcohol. A 6 pack of beer costs $15-20 and a 700ml bottle of captain morgan spiced rum costs around $40. 30 packs of beer are of course cheaper than buying 6 packs but still around the $40 mark.

Hello All! I currently live in Florida but i am looking to move to Australia. Before I can make the move I need some info about the country to help ensure that i dont regret the move.
I ride a 2004 trx 450r. I love to trail ride or xc race and even a little mx. I need to know where is the best place to live over there that will put me closest to the most riding with the least amount of traveling and still allow me to get a job and afford to live. I am an electrician here. My wife has 10 plus years in the banking business, my dad drives dump trucks and operates heavy equipment. My mom is very computer literate and currently does some of the billing for liberty medical supply. We all need to work.
So my questions are..
#1. Would YOU live there if you were in my shoes?
#2. Are there jobs?
#3. How is the riding?
#4. What does it cost for renting a home per month?
#5. What is the average electrical bill per month.
#6. Is there anything else that i need to know that would or should effect my decision?

Thanks Guys or should I say Mates. Us quad riders have to stick together.

similar weather? To Florida? CRAP. You need a PEP talk LEN!

I'd stay in Florida, We don't have a Disneyland here.
There are jobs. Like anywhere, it all depends what your happy with'
The riding is good. Rolls eyes ( Is there any other sort? )
It costs to much too rent.
The average electrical bill is too much.
The whole decision process is in your hands. What you need to know is only likely to become apparent AFTER you and your familyt move.

Ballistic ( our Brand! ) home brew Rum....less than $4.00 Aus a bottle.
Dunno about beer but my neighbour reckons about 50 cents Aus a bottle.
Don't worry about fancy packaging, it's not needed..........
