It is steep for a piece of pipe, a piece of foam and a basic electronic doo-dad.........but...........thats how much they are across most of the brands...
I have been quoted more for the same but with a Pro-Design pipe.
The end result should be good though. |

Try and steer clear of the DMC they just all noise.....The guru above will tell what Cowchaser runs .. HMF make a competition pipe with different caps so you can adjust the loudness. $$$ would be cheaper ..The Rage guy had a special on them on this forum. in accessories _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them. |

lmao ok so so far their are noisy pricks and non noisy pricks .
i would reckon if added pipes didnt make noise 1/2 of us wouldnt have em.
thanks for the feed back ive realised im close to the money but maybe should be looking at full system not slip on. have spoke to rage and had some good views.
thanks guys

Mate I'm useing a duncan fatboy atm .. Not sure if I reccomened it. It passed noise testing at condo. on the other quads I have a Hmf ,Fmf ,Dmc Staintune ( never break this one) monster on a mates kfx 700.
I like the idea of the different caps from Hmf.. for the trailrider who races now and then it seems like a good deal. I think I just talked myself into getting one.

pity Staintune aren't interested in making a 700xx pipe, the DMC is ok but I'm not a huge fan as they really seem to need re-packing almost every 2nd ride.... as do most of the US made pipes. _________________

Mate I don't where it goes (maybe burns) but the packing around the pipe goes some where or compacs... thats why ali outer cases sometimes fail and blow holes.. I have seen this serveral times with Muzzys on brute forces then goes on to melt plastics ... and fuel tanks .... like on the early bombars didn't have a heat shield and aftermarket exhausts get hot and melted the tanks. Staintune are still long longway in front but $$$$ means the cheap ali ones beat them... I havn't made one for a 700x but I would assume it is a chamber type muffler . and would have a drain hole to let the moisture out. Alot of times this type are better for your engine in back pressure. Like my Scambler 500 run worse untill I did all the mods cam etc In humid area as Darwin chamber type exhaust last 12 to 18 months then there rusty and rattle. Packing cost me around $30 ... I buy DEP 4 stroke ... Packing sorta looks like white fluffy stuff .. Your inner core would probably never where out. PeteW could tell more tech stuff... Just for Interest the new Yamie 2 wheeler has a loop in its exhaust for backpressure.. _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them. |

pete said staintune don't do a 700x ....so I don't know where you would find one. I'm bias towards Stainless because thats what I do and I can rip it off and polish it ...
2 wheeler guys bring there Ti pipes to me to weld.... That would be my first choice if one was available and you had the money.. Still the Hmf is good value ... with the 3 end caps.
others on here have more experience with other brands.

cheers huskygoat
so the end caps i notice theirs straight down facing and im guessing facing
upwards , so what would be the difference.
im looking to do enduros mostly but we do a fair bit of dune riding as well as trails.
am supposed to have gear already but still waiting on invoice.
what i originally ordered was dmc pipe slip on , pro design filter and motoworks efi.
cheers

Leo Vince do a Ti pipe for the XX.....mega bucks
I'm looking at the Big Gun because we got one for the LTR and it was great. Also looking the CT as you can get a supertrapp end cap for it. In these "noise nazi" dominated days I thought the supertrapp with it's adjustable end cap it would be a great compromise between power and volume.
.........and your still a loony |

On the Hmf there are three different inserts that go behind the end cap .. all different sounds and horse power.. If your doing non MA events it doesn't matter but if your doing licenced events the noise thing is very real.
And if you like riding on the beach its the loud pricks that are going to get you kicked off first..
I have a Hmf on one of my polaris and bought the quiet core as a extra cost like $40 including ..
Have a look on ebay to see whats avaiable then shop it here.. Most times the aussie guys here arn't that much dearer and they will fix it when it fu!ks up...
Join a 700x forum those guys often find bargins and they let you know whats going to muck up on your quad.
and your still a (sausage) head _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them. |
