Both Chris and Ryan can ride the best in Australia and are much faster this season on stock KTM 450 than on there fully bombed Honda and Yamahaha.
of Past. They are now both on ATV NRG- PEP suspension that will further enhance the great skills they already have. Roll on the Nats , can't wait to see these guys battle it out on the same Machines with the same set up.

not taking anything away from ryan or chris, as they can kick my ass, for now Razz but you have to be pretty silly to be telling people these boys ktms are stock. coz ther is no chance that they are. and i you look at chris's national bike for sale, it clearly says ktm factory head work. not all of us are silly Smile but indeed they are great riders, and lets hope chris starts knuckling down over there and trainin an winning some races for aus

I only tell people how it is and yes towards the end of last season Chris did some flowing to the head on rebuild (After 50 Hours of racing stock) .Ryan's Quad is bone stock, slip on with Jetting as mine is except Cam timing.
Ryan will ride Bunbury tomorrow with PEP-ATV NRG Suspension for the first time outside the states.Anything can happen but sure he will go well
You would have to be pretty Dummett to believe anything else.
You really only need to Jet ,Slip on and if keen adjust cam timing and on a rebuild after 40 hours you could flow the valve area and do a 5 angle cut to seats .
But how would I know Smile

Both KTM and both dominating XC and MX in Australia and Europe .
KTM just wont pay the contingency in the USA to get the top MX Racers .
The same goes with PEP suspension ,they wont Pay $250K a year like Fox will to use the product.
If I have to pay for a Quad and suspension it would be a KTM with PEP Suspension, no questions asked .
Ask the fastest racers in Australia Ryan ,Ant and Chris they will say the same thing .
"KTM with PEP Suspension is the best quad and suspension on the planet"

Well I rode my new (to me 15hours on it) today KTM XC ... I have ridden other peoples KTMs before but its not the same as your own. Now I'm NOT that great of rider .. By a long long way ... But it does heaps of stuff nice compared to my Polaris and the Ds 450 which just happened to be there. My Polaris IRS is still in a league of its own for comfort ..No question are the Bump steer is still the best. But the KTM felt light and powerful in a nutshell. Of the three quads today the steering was the standout .. it didn't have a damperner so there was feed back not like like the Polaris which soaks evevything up. And I won't say anything about the Ds (because I'm a Tosser)

I'm going to buy a Dampner and Flex bars , some flash rims and Tyres but its a great bike as it is .. Cool Cool

Set the steering geometry to 5 degrees Caster with 1.5 degrees Camber and the steering will be better with less feedback. Wink

1st and 3rd were both Polaris 525 IRS's. They have the older KTM 525 RFS engines in them. Same engine that's in an 07 KTM 525EXC bike

FYI, Beta Motorcycles also use the same engine in their range of enduro and Motard bikes from 05 to 09 (Beta build all the KTM mini engines) They won the 09 Baja 500 and the 09 Glenn Helen 12 hour on a 450RR with an almost stock engine (only upgrade was larger radiators).

I've heard of people with late model KTM EXC's who have fitted the older RFS engines in them.

Top 6 riders at finke raced on fox all round, 8 out of the top 10 as well.
Why because they are the best value for money shock around as well the best adjustable shock on the market.
Len why don't you ride a bike with fox on them as I know you still havnt.
You will be surprised, that's why all the top teams ride on them and why they are the best selling shock on the market. I can't complain about Ktm, I race a half a on to finke and back an it got me on the podium. I'm still not convinced about the new engines being the right thing for an ATV. More so long term rec use, not like the old engines which are relativly bullet proof, there's stories out there of guys with over 100 hours before a rebuild in the old rfs engines. That's the type of engine consumers want.[/code]

My 08 Xc with the RFS is pushing 120 hours.
Replaced a timing chain at 95 hours, apart from that it is still as strong as new.

Did ya do rings or anything before? Cause my yfz450r 09 had about 60 hours before replacing rings and it was long over due.

HA HA not at all ,you don't know me mate ,I love the banter Smile
Not Bagging any shocks at all its a no brainer the best are PEP.
The rider is one part and the most important part ,however the track and then the machine is another important part .
Its putting it all together that makes a champion, just ask them.
I believe If you put Casey Stoner on a more competitive bike he would be the one to beat.
Ric Beer is my main competition at the moment in Vets and he is beating me ! I am glad he is not on a ATV NRG-PEP-KTM .
Razz laughing

No, haven't touched anything else in the engine.
Had a KTM guru check it out when we did the timing chain and he was happy with the compresion.
Still starts first hit and pulls near as strong as when it was new.
Not a fan of the new SX engine, but I can say that the RFS are bullet proof (no pun intended Bullet). Smile

We aim to have a team of KTM-ATV NRG-PEP Racers in Finke next year,so to give FOX some competition.

Fox are a good shock and marketed very well with good sales.

However one of the best racers in the country Ryan Lancaster Ran Fox for a very short time because they were given to him .He couldn't wait to be back on PEP and is currently loving them again.

The other Best racer Chris Brenton and current Australian Pro MX Champion is also on PEP and wouldn't pay for anything else.

Why would I want to try them I trust these guys .

Air shocks are cheap to manufacture, simple and effective but you cant compress air for the full travel and the pressures are unpredictable as they get hot.

PEP ZPS are the only shock you can adjust the ride height without effecting the resistance to the Bump Stop ,you can fine adjust the bottoming by cross over points without adjusting Dampening.Oh yeh and you can leave the push bike pump at home.

FOX are plush in a straight line ,however for most are scary in corners .
The top pros in USA run Modified FOX shocks with springs in them to help with dive characteristics in corners.

Only a few can ride them with confidence fast into corners .

The new KTM Engines are really good with over 50 HP ,they are tuned for MX ,you need to adjust that tune to suit flat out running.
They will need some development as any engine does that produces over 50 Hp in those conditions.
