After writing the receiving a number of letters and emails from the Brisbane city Mayor and a number of State Government Depts I received one today from Phil Reeves. While most of them were full of typical waffle his had a couple of useful links and information. The letter he sent me included the following link: http://www.seqtrailbikes.qld.gov.au/pages/wyaralong.aspx The second link won't be active until after June 14th. Once it's active I'll post for your information.

Nah, it's a win for the South East. ( And more to come...)
Good on the Jackal for doing someone's job and letting the public know and have some input.

Riders in other states ,VIC,SA etc could send this to their local guvment and see what they can do.might get the ball rolling for them.why wait untill all the tracks are closed to do something.

Hey Jackal... I really hope we can can catch up one of these days you have been a wealth of information to concerns that directly affect our family’s
and you and Dinos efforts are so appreciated by our little riding group who i will add will soon be the major recognised quad riding association in Queensland as we have the majority of atv users in our area joining us
I hope to see you when you’re visiting our new park or maybe just for a day in our local ride areas

Thanks Dazz. I have no doubt that Dino and I will be frequenting the Wyaralong site when it opens and if time and work permits (coz weekends can be a problem for us both) maybe we can tag along on one of your trail rides.

Keep safe.

I spoke to the dept concerned today.....
Lovely lady told me they received 427 submissions.
Well done everyone who gave a damn!
******************************************************
But for some reason, The Minister concerned has issued letters of response stating thirty submissions received...........

Ahh, she got a bit vague after I asked why her ministers letter said we only put in 30 submissions. Rolls eyes
Re when it'll open. I'd reckon 2012 for the initial stage. If we're lucky....
Anna has a few problems at the moment. ( Like staying in Govt...)

Apparantly tenders have to yet be called for other aspects of the park, consultations with consultants, budgets to be finalsed, risk management, committees to steer around, EIS, meetings of mayors, where is the best counterlunch, where else but Queensland? Eh! laughing

But the legislation has been passed! So hurry up and wait is the official de-pooped version.

On TV tonight, 20th Feb, the news made great fanfare of this facility.
Giving 230 thousand illegal riders somewhere to go in the South East.
So many hectares of land and km's of tracks and x million dollars.
All banners and smiling pollies, Stage one to be open later this year.

And while it is good that the pollies are trying to do something, I have to say that my enquiries as to what is required to ride a quad/atv there has been met with a deafening silence........

The fact that it is public land may mean that a lot of unregistered or unlicensed riders and their families could be turning around at the gate.

If anyone has any current and accurate info, could they please post it up?

Dino, i have spoken to the Project manager at length on this very subject. As far as he was concerned,it will include bikes, atvs, quads and trikes.
He was a trike rider himself, back in the States i think it was.Mid year was the date when i spoke to him in Dec.Maybe a quick call might be in order.
I also asked him can he point us in the right gov area for rego change but could not help.Interestingly,he said this project could not have been done by a private person/company.The struggle he had with other GOV depts was really brain snapping!! However, at least it IS still going ahead!!

it seems every agency/organisation that has to deal with our state government hits the same red tape and bull$*it.... an number of organisations have wanted to hold racing/rally/riding events in Qld and given up because of the bureaucrats... It's time they got their act together!

Yes, quads WILL be be permitted to ride at Wyaralong Park. I had long talk with the people who have won the tender to run the park and i have been reassured there will be no problem.Maybe just not every weekend do to bike numbers.I did not ask about rego but it appears it will not be needed,i will try to get more info. The opening has now been put back to later in the year. There will be an announcement in a few weeks.

I did just what you said gaz and i checked the MAQ website and guess what?....Motorcycling Queensland’s Trail Bike Park at Wyaralong is moving swiftly towards readiness for its opening date by the Premier on Sunday 18th December 2011.
Currently the caretaker’s house has been moved onto the site and is being renovated and the internal roads, dam, tracks and fencing are being completed as this edition goes to print.
Site manager - Ray Buchanan, has an enormous work force on site at the moment to ensure that we will be ready to open by the due date.

Ray Buchanan needs this to work. The green council of Kyogle have effectively killed Woodenbong and the Qld Government reckon they've beat everything else..... eek
