We've a Tachyon XC 2010. It waterproof, shockproof and films in the human eyes field of vision and can take 32GB cards. It can do time lapse and a film in a varity of quality. We're pretty happy with it.
I've tried a few editing programs but windows movie maker was in the computer when we got it and it does the basic stuff OK.

Biggest problem is uploading to You Tube, a 100mb modem and the overall network only handles 1200KB uploading. Makes you wonder if someone is using pidgeons at the other end....
