WE ARE TRYING TO GET QUAD BIKES REC REG IN VIC BECAUSE WE FEEL WE ARE HARD DONE BY BECAUSE QUADS HAVE COME A LONG WAY AND YOU CAN GET JUST AS HERT ON TWO WHEEL OR IN A CAR. I BELIVE THAT MY KIDS LEARN TO RIDE ON A QUAD EASYER THAN A TWO WHEELER WITH TRAINING WHEELS THAT YOU REALLY NEED TO BE ON A ROAD TO MAKE THEM SAFE FOR YOUR KIDS .I WOULD JUST LIKE TO ADD THAT WE ALSO PAY MORE MONEY FOR A QUAD THAN A TWO WHEELER AND REPAIRS COST ARE MORE AND SO DOSE A SERVICE WE JUST PAY MORE ALL ROUND. SO WHY DONT WE GET THE SAME RIGHTS.

I ride where I want. Good luck if they think they can catch me Evil or Very Mad. I'd pay for rec reg if it were available. Their loss as far as I'm concerned because I'm ridding anyway Hrm . If they had a brain between them they'd take my money.

One fine per year is still less than my car rego (if they can catch me). I ride an Outlaw, might as well act like one.

I wonder if this checklist was being utilised at the property of the incident as i believe this is a crucial part of quad bike safety in the workplace. Confused

Planning, preparation, risk assessment, competency and hazard identification are your first lines of defence in the workplace where as PPE is the last line of defence.

ahh and around we go again.........

I think I may have been on this band wagon before, more than once even, even the QRCV have pretty much given up on this, rec reg aint gonna happen.....conditional rego maybe, kinda like the type that Phil would have and the reason why it is cool for him to get pulled up..... anyone else who has the same sort (You know who you are) should maybe explain how to get it so that we can all get on with our riding instead of trying to get rec rego for quads.......

I have 3 of my quads registered and they are all done as i use them for work, weed spraying , it is real hard charging money to ride around on a quad and spray weeds especially when u hate riding quads so much lol.

Hence the reason for indicators and so forth on my Quad

I found out some stuff earlier and posted it on another thread.....
Have a look at this.....
http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/WhatHasToBeRegistered/OtherVehiclesBoatsAndRegistrationIssues/WhenConditionalRegApply.htm
And then this.....
http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Registration/PermitsModificationsAndDefects/OtherPermits/ClubPermits.htm

As conditional registration is a VALID form of registration, then a club of conditionally registered quads might open that crack in the door a bit more.

We've the opposite problem in QLD. Our roads dept will happilly register your quad/buggy, but the EPA, as the governing body of state owned land, want to write there own rules. We might be having a few wins though.

The relevance of a win in any state is that precedents can be set. You just gotta hurry up and wait.

Club registration only allows use of the vehicle on club days or outings , as a lot of old vintage cars have this or even some car clubs

This just came into my inbox....

http://www.dse.vic.gov.au/DSE/nrenrt.nsf/LinkView/96A60EA0D4E7BA02CA25766500019D0761564F966063E91ECA25725D001F1295

And I'd agree with PeteW, rec reg in Vic isn't going to happen.
Conditional rego, that's got more promise.

The above link from the DSE regarding trail bikes. I got it from recent studies here in QLD. ( eek The various state bodies actually talk to one another.....)

Without the $50 words, spreadsheets and formulas, some govt depts have actually worked out that trail riding is carried out by educated, middle aged family people as the majority of riders. And they spend a lot of money pursuing "serious recreation".

Yes Grizzly. Spot on. So form a club and have outings and club days is one way of getting out there legally.
