Greetings all, been researching places to ride near Newcastle when my wife and I move there next month and have some questions I was hoping someone may be able to answer.
Looking at these two links: http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/resources/parks/wclBeachDrivingMap.pdf
http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/resources/parks/wclBeachDriving.pdf
Looks like for $30 I can register a quad and ride on the Stockton Beach only in the red labeled area, correct? Is the private land off limits completely or do the land owners sell separate permits? Are the borders well marked or is it up to me to know where the borders are?
Where are other places to ride around Newcastle? |

You will need rego from the RTA which is our motor vehicle registry.
This will cost you around $300 per year.
The $30 is for a beach permit which you purchase from the service station on lavis lane.( the road which takes to the beach entrance)
The borders are marked via white poles.
The only place you can ride in nsw legally is stockton beach.
Otherwise private property/ Private tour groups etc etc. _________________ KFX 700

I don't know how many states allow it, but my guess would be 5 or less out of 50 and only in specific places. California is one and West Virgina in the Hatfield McCoy area is another I know for sure. Rego in most states gets you access to state parks with designated trails for motorcycles and ATVs.
Less populated areas in nearly every state lots of people ride on the road but its technically illegal. |

| Thats the joy of NSW...not OZ, NSW is THE most expensive place to register vehicles and has some of the worst maintained roads around. |
