Hello, I've got a few dramas with a raptor 700 I recently bought, its hitting the rev limiter very low in the rev range, its doing it at about 3500rpm, and wont rev no more...

The guy I bought it off said it also only does 75km/h in top gear coz of this problem.

What do you think I should be looking at first? Coil, injector, tps???? Any ideas would be great, thank you. Paul

lol, I recon i found the problem, after taking every plug apart off of every sensors i found it to be disconnecting the reverse wires under the gear lever fixed the problem.

It would have been the first place I would have looked if I had known that they had a lower rev limiter when in reverse gear.

proberly just some useless info for every 1....

cheers, Paul

I just took these to black connections off and wiped the terminals and put them back on and it seemed to fix the problem.

tomorrow ill give the bike a good wash and take it for a ride to see if it gets more the 75ks outta it..

Don't look like there is much on the chain though, maybe it's gear lever and spline lube laughing .If i were spraying anything it would be degreaser. EXTRA HEAVY DUTY. laughing

its Bellray chain lube, the chain is buggered anyway. I have just got this bike and only tried to ride it to work out what was wrong with it.

it sound like the computer is going into limp mode get some contact cleaner and go through and clean all the plugs that have anything to do with the computer and injection pay close attention to the wiring for any swelling or cracks . i'm thinking crank shaft sensor

Also make sure that when you have used reverse that the lever that is in you photo with cable attatched is going right back. Mate had same trouble on an enduro. He had sticks and mud and crap stuck in there and had moved the lever forward and wouldnt let bike rev. cleaned it out and lubed the cable and all good.

I might just do away with all the EFI dramas and drop 1/2 the engine capacity and add 1 cylinder. 350cc 2 stroke raptor 700,,

sounds good to me. laughing laughing laughing

The Raptor has a roll over switch. Have a dealer put it on the computer and reset it. Could be that.

Cheers
