Problems again. We have just put my bike back together but it won't start off the button. It just turns over once then stops for a bit, then another turn and then stops again for a bit. It just keeps doing that. If we tow start it, it starts fine and runs fine. I have just bought a new battery for it aswell and fully charged it and that didn't fix it either.
Anyone have a clue whats going on this time? _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

hi kid
i had the samething on a trx450er 07 which would only tow start
it had low to spark while cranking. turn out to be the stator fried its self.
not cheap fix, make sure you check valve clearances and decomp clearance as this a comon fault with the trx 450r.
and try a USA based yamaha web site and check their fault list

Ok. Another update. We had done that cam mod when we rebuilt it so we thought that it might have been that, that was stopping it turning over because the auto-decomp wasn't opening soon enough so we turned it back to normal and it still won't work. I've had a look on a few US sites and have tryed what they said but no luck.
Anyone else know what the go might be. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

Yeah. Forgot to add that when the plug is out it turns over fine but when you screw it in that is when it doesn't turn over properly. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

Ok I will try the timing again tomorow changing the 180 degrees thing. Its definantly not the battery though because we have tried about 5 different batteries. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

dont just change the timimg .check it out (take your time make sure its spot on) . coz if you get it wrong you will bend stuff inside the engine and that will cost $$$$ .. have you got the workshop manual. i put it on one of your other post a while ago check it with that. _________________ Sponsors ,Cullys Yamaha,Pirtek Malaga

Found out what it was. When the head was off one of the valve caps must have fallen off and the shim had fallen out. That was on the valve that the decompression pin works on. So we just made up a shim to see if that fixed it and it turns over perfectly now. So now I just have to take the home made one out and get a proper one from Yamaha and I should be right.
Thanks for the help anyway fellas. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"
