can someone tell us about how the new number system works that QRCV brought in for the Tri State.

there is a few peopkle including myself that are confused what to do and why it was brought in.

mainly due to the fact that riders spend huge $$ getting graphic kits for the bikes and to find out that they have to change it for the Tri State.

How come you had to change your number at tri state? I didnt have to change my number? I am not sure how they number system works at all, but i thought seeing we are all getting MA Lisences we should all be given an individual (unique) numbers.

Before I start, this is only my understanding of the rule, dont take it as gospel. Anyone that's unsure should clarify with the QRCV before making any decisions based on this.

It is only applicable to the graded classes in QRCV run events (Tri State, Vic Titles and Club Days). If a rider doesn't compete in a graded class it doesn't apply.

Pro : 1-99
Expert 100-199
Clubmen- 200 and up.

The reasoning behind it is to provide some structure to grow on for future years. A riders class will be able to be determined by the number they have to make it easier to determine if the rider is competing in their graded class. A race secretary currently cant verify what grade a rider is in when they take entries. With the new number system it will be possible to verify it.

This is how it is in the 2 wheel world, numbers are allocated based on grading at a state level.

Ok. That makes sense, but it also makes it hard for us being issued number from MA (For me example #3Cool then having to use a different number for tri state.

I agree it does make it hard. Were you issued #38 direct from MA or through MAQ?

Its always going to be hard to get a national number system off the ground that will cover events at national, state and club level (too many conflicts). As far as I'm aware no other discipline has a system that covers it all. If there is, it would be good to model from...

This is the first step to getting some sort of structure happening.

Not sure where my number was issued from, but it was probably MAQ. So does that mean i have to put a 1 infront of 38 for the next round?

Yep, you'll need a 1 in front of your number. I was under the impression that the relevant info would be sent out with entry acceptance?
I'm not fully upto speed on that one so the best thing to do would be to confirm with the Race Secretary.

I know I'm pretty Dumb but I have a "National Competition licence" my number is 42 is that not for all Australia?????? I have never been asked to change it?

How does it all work? a local guy runs "05" he was told he can't have it this year????

Not necessarily Husky, your national license covers all disciplines.

The number you were given/chosen was allocated through your SCB or club, so its only relevant for your state, not for all of Australia.
Thats not to say you cant use it at an interstate event because you probably could if you were the first #42 to enter in your class.
This is only a QRCV initiative and only applies to graded classes at QRCV events to make it easier to identify graded riders.

A national number scheme is a good idea, but it doesn't happen overnight. It happens in stages and it seems like this will be the first stage. Time will tell if/when it goes further.

EDIT: missed the 2nd question.

Number allocation at your local events is upto the committee holding the event.

When I first rang to apply for my MA licence the chick on the other end of the phone asked me what number I wanted to race under, I said, "What's available?" I picked a random number (31) and have used it ever since. How do we even end up with two or even three riders using the same number?

Maybe a slightly shorter race distance would help the class grow!

Rob had to change his number to 111 from 11 even though at the event there was only 7 pros and no other competitor conflicted with numbers, why???

Your missing the point Mick, he doesnt have to change his number from one class to another. Pick a number between 100-199 and run it for both.

The reason for the number system is to identify what grade the rider is in by their number.
