| flag is a personal thing ,havent seen it or loud exhaust being enforced ranger does patrol the area though mainly see him pinging no helmets and stupidity like that. If you havent been there before , Strongly recommend you take it easy for first hour and get to know where the razorback dunes are cos they just spring up from no where and you left with straight drop offs that change daily. Enjoy it though the place is a great riding spot long as the wind aint up. |

this 1 of the main reasons they want to close lano
i had a shire employee come around on a week day as these were his hrs of work and wanted to test how loud our bikes were and he said 2 rev them up, ive raced mx and there is a rpm you have to hold them 2 but you cant tell unless you have a vibe meter which picks up the crank rpm.
so he said the only reason the locals are complainning is people are hanging around on the front dune and the town can hear them loud as day. and also a newly retired lawyer that has moved into the area is using his legal knowlegde to help close lano down as he needs to have a quiet lunch and coffee in his new town. |

I really hate these, lets close Lanos stories. And the sad thing is everyone has got one.
One of the contributing reasons for me to move back to Perth was Lanos.
How is it that one person decides to by a house at Lanos suddenly has more rights than the thousands of sand dune users that frequent Lancelin on a regular basis.
Heres me reading articles in the paper about Lancelin businesses complaining that the shortend cray season is killing them. I wonder if they tried to embrace the sandune users maybe they wouldn't be going down the tube after all
If noise is an issue for him, how about he work towards addressing the noise issue instead of taking away peoples rights to enjoy a hobby FFS. Has anyone ever heard of working with other people for a mutual benefit??
Makes my blood boil....... If he wants quiet, move to Cevantees, or even better move to bum-F^&K-idaho! I bet my left one the sand dunes were there long before he had a house there!
End of rant....
P.S. Good advice about taking it easy in the Dunes. They can bite if your not careful. Awesome experience if you have never been up there before. I hope you have a great time. _________________ State governments give us REC rego + area to ride ATVs legaly! State Status: VIC-No (Nazi's) QLD-Yes(no place to ride tho) NT-? NSW-Yes, Stockton. Has anyone ever heard of working with other people for a mutual benefit?? THE BLOKE IS TRYING TO ADDRESS THE NOISE ISSUE BY ELIMINATING IT. WHY DONT YOU RIDERS WORK WITH THE LOCALS AND RUN STOCK PIPES TO HELP KERB THE NOISE ?? YOU ALL KNOW THAT YOUR PIPES ARE ABOVE THE NOISE STANDARD SET FOR MANUFACTURERS
YOU ARE TO BLAME YET YOU BLAME THE GUY THAT JUST WANTS TO LIVE A QUIET LIFE
Makes my blood boil....... If he wants quiet, move to Cevantees, or even better move to bum-F^&K-idaho! I bet my left one the sand dunes were there long before he had a house there! YEP AND I BET PEOPLE WERE THERE FOR PIECE AND QUIET LONG BEFORE QUADS AND DIRT BIKES WERE FIRST RIDDEN THERE
End of rant....

This is not a personal shot at you OZQUAD44 we all are. or once have been guilty of having a vehicle that makes too much noise but it don't stop us riding it.Not giving a damn about the people living in the areas as to how much we disturb them. Maybe it should be us the riders solving the noise problem, and not blaming everyone else for it.
And as far as the noise testing goes the Ranger can do you for any noise above the factory exhaust limit .
It is only competition that is noise tested so that the tracks and clubs can stay where they are with out disturbing the neighbors Cheers stay safe and enjoy Lano |

NO offense taken Mickbundy. Don't get me wrong. I agree with the noise thing, I don't condone overly loud exhausts, or behavior that annoys everyone else within cooee. I don't expect the people of Lancelin to put up with skids, burnout's, and revving motors right on their doorsteps. And this should not be happening anyway because there is a big area where riders cannot go, which acts as a sound sound buffer, built into that dune complex. But even so I do agree that as riders we should be very mindful of the impact we make on others.
I am all for policing noise as it's clearly an issue. I'm more than happy with that. I just hope that any penalties and or noise level restrictions imposed aren't designed in such a fashion so as to preclude users from the activity all together. The cynic in me suspects otherwise.
But I'm getting off track. My post was all about being tried of the old "its too hard to fix so lets just close the place" syndrome. Its very annoying and I believe totally unfair to so many people. Those sand dunes have been used as a recreational area for over forty years. I'm totally against closing it down based on the assumption a lawyer who recently moved up there thinks its too noisy.
Surely the good folk of Lancelin don't want to lose the revenue of the sand duner do they. Surely not all residents want the dunes closed down? When I was a young fella, I knew lots of people who lived in Lancelin, and many of them had Bikes, Trikes and 4WD's. Plus a boat of course....
Perhaps now that land prices have soared the only people moving up there are ex lawyer types? Perhaps it is time that all the riff/raff (meaning off roaders like my self) stay out of lancelin so the ex lawyer types can park their X5's in the driveway and quaff chardies of an evening.... who knows. But it will be a damm shame for WA if people like that do get their way.
P.S. A few comments in that last paragraph were a bit tongue in cheek, not to be taken too seriously. For example I like X5's javascript:emoticon(' ')
