After all the discussions on this topic about safety and alike, People are STILL going to wreck it for all who ride there.
Its no wonder we all can't ride in big groups, because some of you just don't wanna do the right thing.

When/if we do get banned from this area, i will quite happily post the pics and posts from those who ruined it, so we know who contributed.

Unbeleiveable !!

Earthmover,

Put it this way, lets say where you ride is going to be policed due to people not doing the right thing, (and this place is a awesome place to ride and free!),
Lets say you went riding in this area,(where police or relevent authorities will be) and due to complete ignorance and lack of brain power, people are still not doing whats right, safety wise and other.
As a result of this, this area you love is now plastered with signs saying "4WD, Trail bikes of any kind PROHIBITED",
Not that this has happened yet to the mentioned area/s that i'm talking about, but it's on the cards.

So you'd be happy for this to continue in your Free, Awesome riding area ?!?! I very much doubt it, I will have no trouble at all guiding these authorities to the riders in the area (on the day) who are ruining it for the rest of us.

We (bike/quad riders) cop enough from laws and regulation crap we must abide by, and still we get fewer and fewer places to ride.

The less idiots out on the trails, forests, dunes & race tracks the better.

Those propsed signs you've mentioned Vonhammer, the EPA have already got them made.
They've been made for ALL traditional riding areas, not just the one you've mentioned.
At this time it is a policy that is incoming.
It is only a matter of time before a cash-strapped Bligh Govt makes it law. And then it'll be too late.
And while I am fully aware of this forums rules regarding politics, I can say think very carefully befote you vote next.
This applies to buggies, trail bikes, 2 and 4 wheel drive quads, 2 and 4wd of all sorts of registration. Everybody you see up there on any weekend.
This also reflects on anybody selling those products, their accessories or those trying to organise somewhere to go.

What I am talking about transcends any petty greviances people may have.
I suggest that quite strongly suggest that you arm yourself with the facts regarding the EPA. Find out yourself what this very powerful dept want to actually do. Don't rely on 2nd or 3rd hand info. Get the facts........

I personally haven't been to the Glasshouse since the yellow thing went submarine. My regular riding areas get plenty of groups. Big ones too. Kiddies, every make and type of bike and 4B. They also attract their share of sausages. Either no helmet or fully kitted out wanna-bee's drawing the wrong attention.
Everybody is in the same boat. It's sinking.

The EPA is the real enemy, not the guys and gals out there. TRUE

No Matt. I don't get what you're saying. All I've worked out so far is that you've got this name and shame threat thing with your next to last post
I have actually been doing a fair bit of research on the EPA's proposals.
And the locals, the cops, the Rangers, the RTA and the Dept of Sport & Rec.
You've got my details bloke. I'll happily trade info but not insults directly with you.

ok, trying to get my head around this stuff still... We take my son and his quad up the pine forests to ride because we thought that it was legal, theres even little motox bike signs stating its ok. he always wears closed in shoes, helmet, gloves, body armour, but never heard of this rego thing. and from what i read he cant register anyway. Its rediculous because ppl like us r going there cos we thought it was legal, when in actual fact we may as well be riding in the bush around the subburbs as its still illeglal. Confused ??? Hrm grr need to take my boy somewhere so he can use his bike, any1 got any brisbane close places to take a 9yrold to have fun?

Hey Quad Mum,
the legality of your riding will depend on how old you son is and if he holds a drivers license. You can ride conditionally registered bikes in recognised tracks through the pine forests and some state forests (Mt Mee) but the rider must be over 17 and hold a drivers license. I ride the forest and I see people without rego (2 & 4 wheels) and some are clearly under 17. At the end of the day I don't care who rides there so long as they act safely but the the government has a very different view and I'd say it's to do with liability rather than wanting to spoil peoples fun. They are building a bike park at Beaudesert which will have MX tracks and trails so until that opens you may have weight up the risks of getting caught. I don't think that the rangers would be too harsh but if the cops catch you!!!
Happy riding

The Jackal

the cops stopped me and my mate on the way to glasshouse a while ago (maybe this was in the time frame mentioned in earlier posts)and took our details( bikes were still on the trailer) and told us that yes we can ride there if we are registered, licenced and had obtained a permit. he said i can get rec rego for the banshee but i can't get a licence to ride it. WTF!!! they will take my money to rego it but won't issue a licence to ride it. apparently quads are illegal. the rec rego costs are outragous in my opinion. my mates have rec rego on their cars (V8's) for half what the banshee or bike would cost and they can drive on the road. i still ride there (unregistered) as does every1 else and yes i wear protective gear and keep the noise down when near any houses. i'm not going to enter a debate with any1 here but if someone does get any inside info about cops hitting my favourite spot, i would apreciate the heads up so me and my mates can avoid the area for a while. i try to do the right thing and respect the area and residents of the area where we ride. i just hope the cops realise this and try to do the right thing by us in return. i havnt been on this forum for a while but i will check for the heads up regularly from now on. i ride either the banshee or the crf450 at glasshouse most weekends. would like to see you there. its a great spot.

I see it's finally happened. Rangers and Police are closing down Glasshouse Mountains to Quads, to my knowledge only FULLY REGISTERTED bikes, cars, 4wd's are allowed access.

6 Quad riders were fined $100 each for riding in there a couple of weeks ago and told not to return, their rec rego was no longer accepted.

Anyone know whats going on ?,and is there written info on it?
