Ok , i know i am asking for it , but what is the actual , no BULL top speeds of the range of bikes out there ?? and at what RPM if known ?
From standard to worked ?
As i feel there is some "flawed data" to be polite getting arround about what you can get from a quad . |

A Standard for measuring performance would be great Brad!
....................................................................................
Cars and road-going bikes have had the 1/4 mile /400m for ever. That independantly puts more truth in claims than dyno figures, gloosy brochures or boozy boasts.
Maybe a standing 150m instead?
....................................................................................
Errr, that might be less drama in the public domain we are in.
And both sorts of quads could have a go. 4x4 and sports. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

I used to get 138Km/h on the GPS Garmin Foretrex 201 on my Outlaw 525 IRS. 540 kit, SXS540 Cam, Headwork and dynoed to just under 46 HP. I was running 15 tooth front, standard rear and 22-8-10 Bearclaw rear's. 138 Km/h was pretty much tapped out so not quite sure what rpm but I could cruise quite comfortably at 120km/h, so i dont think you will have a problem cruising at 100Km/h.
Just interested what rear tire are you running thats 21-8-10? _________________ Its not if you win or lose but how you enjoyed the ride! |

Thanks Richard , 21-11x10 rear , (error on previous post) soon to have 22-8x10 . Will be happy with 120 , may need more power to get it .
Will let you know . |

| never had mine wind out in fifth, run out of room real quick , but on my way to try winding it out, also using a garmin tracker 3rd gear got to 58 mph, b4 running out of track. forth is close ratio with 3rd but then hit 5th and then hold on. your eyes the become very wide open for any obsticles ,that you may hit, ande believe me i dont want to hit anything at over 100 kph. |

Gear your quad for the racing, not the road sections.
Smitty passed me once last year in a race section where he must have been doing close to his 810R Rene top speed of 138kmh (in the crap too).
My Borrowed stocky only did 121kmh at the time and i reckon was o that.
If you want to be at the pointy end you will be doing over 100kmh very often when racing.
You'll want to have good power at 110mh that will allow you to stretch further on the straights.
The road sections are designed so you can do them all comfortably without ever going over the speed limit.
And they are conservative at that.
I reckon you could do all of your transport times without ever going over 90kmh.
Most don't, and most get there very early.
but too early is pointless (as well as bad for the event). _________________ Can-Am X Team

we have speedos and tachos on all our quads
our 08 yfz450se with yoshi pipe gytr gear tops out at 120kph its max rpm is 10400rpm
our 08 ltr450 with full yoshi ex K&n power commander dyno hp was 48.8 tops out at 119kph max rpm 10800rpm
my kfx450 has full exhaust K&n mod intake stage 2 cams adjustable ecu with rev box & power commander it tops out at 124kph max rpm 11300rpm
all have stock gearing rpms are not at top speed that is there max rpm they hit we also have a max log on all 3 so we can see our max figures we have rode with every quad on the market at some time not 1 is any faster, none of the tops speeds have any thing to do with which 1 is faster. that is kfx 1st the ltr 2nd and the yam 3 but very little in it @ stock the ltr was the fastest by far |

it lasted a couple rides and then he stripped it.
hasnt been together since to my knoledge.
he installed it into a rail frame but it twisted the frame, so he gave up.
mine still goes as hard as the day i finished it, nearly 3 years ago. |

i've got a gas gas 300 2 stroke, it was running standard gearing on a fresh motor, i could pull 160km/h at 15400rpm in sixth flat out , that was a little hairy, and yes it was speed checked via a car and the vapor mounted on it. Ive since changed the gearing for more pick up and less top end, it used to be 12\38 and now its a 12\41, not much difference but i can't go smaller on the front and i can't go larger on the back.

i was thinking the same thing..
was this a 4 wheeler or 2 wheeler?
i seriously doubt a 300 2 stroke stock motor would have the balls to push that much air.
the wind drag past 120 kph starts getting fairly high. |
