hey guys old fart here ..ok im about to rid myself of my 2 wheeler yz 426 and get something with 4 wheels, reverse and electric start.. mmmm sounds so goood ... Im 52 and im not the lightweight racing version 120kg pretty fit had couple of minor heart attacks now fixed with 3 stents ..lol but it doesnt stop me riding with the odd race thrown in for good measure..ok heres my question 700 raptor or ltz400 i know they are kinda similar but im probably gonna trail ride and club race the quad
So ... what ya think is there any preferance ??? both will be probably 07 models although i can pickup a new ltz for about $8000... would prefer second hand only because most already have the accesories fitted like nerf's, bars, exhausts, pushbars, etc wouldnt mind getting into abit of speedway as well
cheers Dave

I think the 700 is for you. The 400 would be ok, but if you can ride, i think you would get bored with the 400 power. I weigh 100kg and the 700 is great. The best for trail riding.

I'd go the 700. Cool
120kg on it not going to be as noticable as that wieght on a 400. Coupla my mates have Raptors as a "all-rounder". They do a great job. Very Happy
You'll feel about 30 years younger. Err, watch the ticker but. laughing
Maybe check out what classes, engine wise, they're running first but.

the 700 is going to way suit your needs, regardless of your weight, after being big bikes, you would soon run out of power on a 400, where as the 700 raptor will keep you very pleased for a lot longer. Very Happy

A bloke here (fossil) will soon tell you all about 700 raptors but becaurefull he waffles on a bit, and dont let invite himself over, you'll never get rid of him. Wink

700 Raptor.
If you weren't planning on the odd race, I would also take a look at the Outlaw 525 with IRS.

Have you considered a Polaris 525 IRS. Luke B had an 09 model in the For sale section for $7500.00.
They're unbeatable in the bush. I just bought one for my first real Quad I'm also old and I ride 2 wheelers as well. I'm very Happy with it.

But at the moment i think i will be going with the raptor ..Just gotta get my son married off next saturday then the search is on

Which state are you in? If you're in my area you're welcome to a test ride on my IRS 525.

It wasn't what I was looking for either but after riding a straight axle in the bush I wouldn't trade it for anything. They offer a much smoother ride which means you can ride longer.

I'm not biast Rolls eyes . I swear laughing.

Willow.

Here's a "Western Island" link
http://www.causewayyamaha.com.au/d1258/raptor-700-special-edition/
11 litre tank. Fuel consumption would obviously vary with conditions.
Hrm probably from a few to five hours a tank without running it empty...
Still reckon you should hit the in-laws up for a dowrie laughing laughing
