Do you remember that Top Gear episode where the dudes drag car front tyre blew out....
Make sure you've got briliant tyres if you're doing over the 200kmh mark,
because they'll probably be the most likely reason you'll need the RFDS.
You could get away with it for ages, but if a tyre flies apart, it will all happen before you get time to say the 'F' part of the bigger word _________________ Can-Am X Team

Over the 200km/h mark? Guys, the tyres have 2B spot on at any speed.
But yeah, very astute risk analysis Bullet. Poor old trees are the innocent victims in a lot of incidents. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Highest speed on a quadbike (ATV)
The highest speed on a quad bike (ATV) is 249.51 km/h (155.04 mph) achieved by Terry Wilmeth (USA) onboard the AlbaAction/Fullbore/Powroll Rocket Raptor version 5.0 at the Madras Airport, Madras, Oregon, USA on 16 June 2007.
above record is from the guiness world record website.
this was done on bitumen i think. |

lol feral im to fat,
strap you onboard and then yea i reckon the bike will hold together if you have the balls to turn the throttle.
i can only find fastest atv on bitumen nothing about on dirt.
and the guy with the current record is rocket powered not engine powered, so we arnt really in the same catergry.
i have sent a request to guiness to see what they think , and also in regards to fastest atv wheelie. |

My opinion only,
It would be nice to see an Aussie next to a land speed record, again.
Worse case scenario is a 30 second spot on the national news, dead or alive. Hero or zero. Just depends how it goes. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Bullet, I was thinking the exact same thing.
I dont think any "off road" type tyre would be suitable for those speeds.
A set of speed rated tyres would (IMHO) be essential. As would a full set of leathers/ safety gear. |

Yeah, even if you can get some tyres speed rated at least closer to the mark.
Maybe look around for a set of rally car tyres in the 12 inch size Dangerman.
Leyland Mini and Jap stuff.
Run them front and rear and get them balanced on the quad.
Most speed record stuff run skinny rear tyres to get better high speed traction.
And a heavy bloke might stay on the groud a bit better too _________________ Can-Am X Team

The Hankook Optima K715 145/70R12 is a T ated tyre.
Not high but i'd trust it more that a non-reinforced quad tyre.
There would be heaps better out there, if you keep looking _________________ Can-Am X Team

ZR rated tyres would be best, get some 12inch speedway tyres and cut extra grooves in them.
If you were going to do it on the salt then wet weather racing tyres are the go apparently _________________
