When I ride me misses 330 polaris up the ramps onto the ute it makes a grinding noise and the chain and coggs dont move. the same as when you are rideing fast and let the throttle off it makes the same sound. What do you think this might be????? Sounds like the drive shaft may be worn and its slipping under load, too me. Any help would be great as Im no where near a bike mechinic.
Thank you. |

I had a Polaris 400 a few years back and it had a similar sounding problem. A bearing in the gearbox was on its way out and eventually gave out completely. A big mess and big $$$$ to fix. When it gave way it completely destroyed the gearbox.
It may not be the same problem, however, it would pay to have someone in the know look at it or you could end up with the same consequences that I had. _________________ 2010 Sukuki

sounds like a bearing loading up underload, at work atm im replacing a powerdivider in the front diff of a kenworth it didnt make any noise with no railers on but as soon as we hooked a B-double up 2 it so it had some load it would grind and screw about.
take it to someoen and get them to look at it before it does more damage. |

I've had a slipping CVT belt on the Polaris and in certainly didn't make a grinding noise like a failing bearing....But, it wouldn't hurt to replace the belt if it's fairly worn in any event. _________________ 2010 Sukuki

The CVT belt is inside the case, if the noise is the same as when you back off then it's the CVT belt, the slack adjuster inside the CVT also makes a noise on overrun or when you land a jump, pretty common in all Polaris CVT's. Change the belt & have a look for any nasty metal chunks or filings while you're in there. _________________ The term "Foolproof" seriously underestimates the ingenuity of Fools.
