My girlfriends step dad calls it a trike :@ hes like so were u ridin the trike this weekend?
gives me the shits lol dont mine quad bike it makes it easier to explain to people then just saying quad but 99% of the time i call it a quad. |

I thought an ATV was a two wheeled dirt bike.
What terrain cant they go on 
'Quad Bike' is fine.
the closer we are referred to as 'bikes' the more of their privileges we might have access to...
Tracks, Events, Rec Reg, Roads etc.
Quad Bikes is by far our best tag.

Quad bike is OK. I've always called them Quads, which is what Suzuki called them when they launched them in the early eighties.
But Aussies being Aussies meant we had to put the bike spin on it. Certainly saves any confusion for the average joe blow, and of course the two wheeled punters.
I suppose the term Quad Bike was really directed at that audience in the first place. I think it stemmed from the need to explain the concept of a four wheeled contraption thingy that you ride instead of drive. All for the benefit of those people who didn't really give a toss about the whole thing.
I'm pretty sure it would be safe to assume some journalist cooked up the term Quad Bike. Only because he probably didn't have a clue what the hell he was supposed to be writing about, and made the assumption neither did anyone else.
An ATV rider would never need such a descriptive explanation, Thats probably why it annoys some ATV/Quad riders. But at the end of the day who really cares. Quad Bike is fine by me, at least it doesn't confuse people.
Its all good. Push-bike, Motor-bike, Dirt-bike, Quad-bike, Town-bike.... er..... forget about the the last one, she never returns my calls!

What I really used to hate was the old bloke next door saying "how's your landrover going mate?" when it was a LANDCRUISER...
I don't really mind what you call my quad, as long as no one calls it a KTM!

KTM !!!!!!!! I think thats a fraudian slip for no PEP shocks for this little black duck.
disclaimer: the term black duck in no way referes to anyone who might be a black duck or a pep shock user, but honda riders whom have obvoius issues with KTM and black ducks.

prefer quad though...
when going somewhere we do say, bikes packed?
ATV's = the ones you ride on farms.
Quads= the ones you race at tracks
just how it goes in our house.
