Hi my name is Carl. I'm new to quad riding. I rode dirt bikes in my younger days and I have to say quad riding is about the best fun you can have with your clothes on.. laughing I am a member of the Qld Quad Riders Association and I recommend anyone who lives in Qld to check out the clubs web site at www.qldqra.com. I have riden at Manar Park and so far that's about it. Manar Park (for those of you that haven't been there) is a 15 000 acre property about 1 1/2 hours North of Kingaroy. They have a web site. I ride a 2005 350 Raptor. I hope you all had a great Chrissy and all the best for 2010.

Hi Carl,

Welcome to the forum. What part of Brissie you reside in? Quite a few quad riders about Brissie mate. Put out a call and someone will be interested.

There is a fair few of them in the QQRA. A lot more not, they just go riding about the place in groups as dust junkies do.

If your raptor is conditionally registered, you are free to ride it around the state forests. With well over 50 000 acres within a 1/2 hour of Brissie Northside, the cost of rego is well worth it. All sorts of tracks............

We just rode from near Caboolture to Wild Horse Mountain and back by various routes yesterday. Mud, rocks, bog-holes the 2 wheelers really avoid, side slopes, long dirt roads and sandy tracks. All in the on and off rain.

Lots of critters too. This time was wild horses and some very big roo's. There is always some stuff to make you say "Crikey!" Not many other people for a weekend either. 2 bike groups and a coupla 4wd tracks was all we saw all day. Umm, we had a ball.

Excellent short touring with lots of opportunity to overnight. If you don't mind a bush camp, or a fish, or a swim, that is. It is all out there.

regards DINO & TEESH

Conditional rego is ok for the forestry tracks and allows you to load/unload on a road and to cross that road to get from one riding area to another. Wink
Conditioonal rego is not ok for the national parks unless you are part of a organised group. Crying or Very sad
This info is on the EPA and Qld Nat Parks web sites. Smile
Getting the conditional rego is not as daunting as you may think. It's a form, proof of 3rd party insurance and some funds. They don't even want to look at your bike. laughing
The little number plate does not allow you to go down the street to get milk and bread, but it meets the authorities requirements to allow you to ride on public land for recreational purposes. Confused
PM me if you need a hand.
