Got another problem with my bike. Mad THe problem is it won't start in gear even with the clutch in, it just turns over but doesn't fire and it won't start in neutral unless the clutch is in. Also my headlights won't work unless the clutch is pulled in.
So i would say something is stuffed up in the wiring. Any ideas?

im thinking you have a bad chasis earth from your battery to the frame
when you pull the clutch in the micro switch is acting as a earth for the ignition system.
more then likely also the fault with your charging system.

Just bring it up and I will fix it for you Ferral, come up for the Aust Solo title on 3/1/10 ( Sunday) and drop your quad off, will fix it and you and you can get it the next weekend as were running quads with karts on Sat night, will cost nothing for the labour

Clarkie I think I will have to do that. I'll bring it too the race on Sunday. I better give it a good wash before though because it looks a bit sad underneath some of the plastics where I havent been able to get to. We have been really busy lately and haven't really had a chance to bring it down to you. Dangerman i think you are right too because the earth wire has come off but I don't know where it goes back on. Rolls eyes I had a look at a wiring diagram too and have found out a few of the things mucking up http://www.yfztech.com/yfz450Service.pdf . The starting circuit cut-off relay is now clicking when you pull the clutch in and on that diagram the relay is joined onto the clutch switch so that would probly be why. It also joins onto the neutral and temp light which the neutral light now won't come on at all and when you press the start button the temp light comes on. The headlights still won't come on unless the clutch is in and when you turn them on something makes a humming noise for a second.
I think thats it.
Thanks for the help everyone.

feral, if you don't take Clarkie up on the offer, I'm going to go to your place and knock your lights out. Then I'm going to steal your quad, take it to Clarkie, get it fixed and ride the cr@p out of it.
