yea u might get a fine if they didnt give you one when they took your details.

if the ranger got your details that was a fail safe from the cops if they ended up getting a hold of ya.

hope ya dont get a fine. sucks they are enforcing it straight away and not giving time for the effect of it!!

you'll be right, if they issue a fine it will be on the spot or they would have told you that one will be coming in the mail.

Ahhh. The old "written details in the book.".........
This will go in a data base. Should they join the dots after a crime in that area, you MAY get a knock on the door wanting to know your whereabouts at such and such a time and date......
In police jargon, your a POI, a Person Of Interest. This just means that your presence was noted in a area to which they've directed their attention.
It doesn't mean "get a lawyer son! Make it a good one!"
It does mean there is information being gathered.
Information is being gathered.....What could this info be used for?
Perhaps I should pass on what I know MAY be coming. This is the truth, no BS!
A casual group conversation with a State (QLD) MP about something else entirely, revealed the following proposals, and I quote;
"as the current HOON legislation is having such a desirable impact on the target area, consideration of proposals to expand this legislation to include maritime and off-road areas deserves serious consideration."
EEK,EEK,EEK!
Guys and gals, this could get serious.........

I may be an old fuddy duddy but the hoon legislation has been hugely successful in discouraging sausage heads from tearing up and down suburban streets, with huge fines and seizure of vehicle for those caught. The same legislation applied to maritime activities here in Port Hedland would certainly clear our waters of drunken idiots in high-powered boats towing donuts manned by their equally drunken mates at high speed through designated swimming areas or using our boats as a slalem course when we are anchored out fishing. I regularly read in the NSW section of the car park heroes at Lavis Lane doing donuts and spraying cars with gravel. Surely these idiots that are giving our chosen sport a bad name are the ones that need to be concerned if hoon legilation is ever applied to off road areas, not those of us that are treating the provided facilities and other users with respect.

Fossil, I was actually thinking of a bit of history when I suggested that this could get serious.
When the 4wd boom took off in the late 70,s/early 80,s certain elements used statistics and media attention of "sausage head activities" to get legislation passed.
For better or worse, one of the results was areas getting declared walking areas only. That just put more pressure and attention on the remaining areas. This snowballed.
By the late 90's, the few nearby allowed areas were used so heavily that the natural consequences of overcrowding meant more "management". And in areas further afield, scrutiny began where little existed previously.
NET RESULT=(1) Not as much fun. (2) Sausage heads still breeding.
One of the key tools used in managing this was legislation to ensure insurance was in place via registration. Part of this was to allow the protection of authorities responsible from private litigation.
So yes, our guns, quad, boat, car and trailers and ourselves are all regoed and insured. But when we go fishing, camping, quadding and shooting, we still have to prove that we are not painted with the same brush as the sausage heads. Everytime.
So, I agree with you you old fuddy-duddy. Legislation and real enforcement will probably help. Guess we'll see in 10 years or so.

Yes I agree Dino. Re enforcement is the key to a lot of this. Boof heads will always exists in any activity, and it is usually only those that genuinely care about their chosen activity that bide by any regulations set. The longer these guys go unchecked, the more damage they do to us all as a group. It may be annoying to have the rangers and police checking our rides and patrolling ride areas but as long as we are doing the right thing then we are ok. The positive outcome of any regulations aimed at anti social behaviour should be the weeding out of the yahoos for the benefit of those willing to do the right thing. Don't mean to be preachy but I'm old and it's past my nap time Sad

i know what you mean about being a person of interest, but the cops and calm where both preety good about and where more interested in cathching people dumping cars and rubish in the area, so im not really concerned about them rocking up to my house lol . as for hoon laws, fair enough you dont go rippin a skid in a crowded area or suburburn street , but some of the things people have got done for are rediculouse... cant have any fun anymore
