if someone was planning on designing and then opening a off road park, for quads and 2 wheelers, what would be more appealing?

Looks like there gunna ban quads from our local ride park cos we smooth out the ruts to much, but as Warren Smart ( Hattah Enduro Winner 3 Times) said " If ya need ruts ya cant ride for "profanity removed""

Definitely natural hills and undulating ground DM.
You're asking as though you get to choose, cool.
One of the best things to look for would be the type of ground.
Bugger all rock and lots of clay type soil is the go.
I got lots of trees and they make things a bit restrictive.
PM me and come up some time.

Clarkie,
Get the junior 2 wheeler parents on your side.
The little 50 and 65 wheels love how quads smooth out the big ruts.
In race order... 2 wheel seniors, Quads, Junior 50 2 wheelers.

Hi, just a couple of things that I always try to get right ;

* make sure that there is fall away from your berms and jumps so as water can't build up and create puddles.
* try to use the natural terrain as best you can to help with jumps and berms i.e. using a natural dip to set up for the face of a jump.
* make your down ramps on the jumps atleast 1.5 times wider than the take off.
* from the landing ramp out try not to have too many trees or obstructions to run into if you get the jump wrong and come down out of control.
* try to avoid recrossing over the track as multiple riders can increase the chance of collisions.
*set out the basic shape of the track ; then the berms and lastly your jumps.Try and maintain smooth lines ,flow and speed.
*If I think of anything else I'll let you know.
thanks sotty.

Go for as Natural as you can mate. But make it as tough as you can drop logs over the track litter it with boulders heaps of off camber stuff, hills you have to carry your bike up and so on. If you don't make it tough like this people will only come once or twice and think BORING!!!
Then make a second smaller easier track so that beginners have somewhere to learn, and keep the 4WD's to the car park mate

pretty much what he said, but make it as tight as possible, real single trail stuff, and in the shitty spots make sure riders cant cut a new track around it if possible, oh a big mud hole to test the sooks. Very Happy

single trail would denote a single wheel track, so you probably mean like single trail style tracks but for quads......

a few tree's for Yogies KFX to climb would be good too...

I'd say try and build a few different difficulty trails including different types of stuff, then if you've got the space a motocross track using as much of the natural terrain as possible, with some massive 100ft+ tabletops like those ones from the photos of beechey at black duck.

Yeah most people are saying build it tough...

A point there,
Whatever 'big' jumps you build, you will probably be clearing them a few days later.
So yeah, build them big and scarey to the point where you don't think you'll ever do it.
That way they might last you a few months before they get easy, and your bored again Smile

Wide jumps with multiple different take off angles are good too.

my kids like nice long straights so they can get up a little speed
i love how at manar they have long straights with small small jumps
we all like the steeper climbs at glendon and rover.

My wife and i like to ride the more steep runs but we also like the flat tracks so we can hang our ass's out .....

We all hated black duck with a passion it was a bloody awful place 2 wheelers everywhere and the enduro trails sucked for the kids....

We dont get into the 4x4 quad thing but i know they like there extra challanges personaly i wouldnt like to be thrashing down a trail and come across a log! ...

We all like to see some sections of soft sand ... we just love watching the 2 wheelers crash in the soft stuff ... we all get a kick out of small water crossings

You couldnt go wrong if you set it up like a GNCC track they have a bit of everyhing, a litte MX, a Little Fast open trails, a little tight tree trails, a little bit steepness / roughness and of course a water crossing or 2

Check out the GNCC on Youtube it will give you few ideas for your practice track.
