Some of you may have heard by now that we had a rider killed at our Tamworth MX meeting last weekend. Malcolm McVicar (Chillibin) died doing what he loved. All our thoughts go out to his family and daughter Nina (Ning) who I understand is the current New Zealand Woman's Champ. It was the sadest day for our sport and on behalf of all R.I.P. Chillibin.

Shocking news Pigz I was told on Monday and haven't been able to shake that awful feeling all week, both Nicole and I are feeling for his family and all you guy that were there.
I met Malcom at the first round of the Vic's this year, we had a little on track incedent which left him injured and it was my fault, but he never had a bad word to say. Hell of a nice guy

Malcolm was one of the characters that make this sport what it is. We met when I got a call out of the blue from him when he was working in town. He heard I rode quads so rang me and invited me down the pub for a beer. That alone says a fair bit about the man he was.
I talked him into coming to that first vic round last year and when he broke his collar bone, all he said was '"profanity removed" Happens, she'll be right mate'.
Malcolm and I have been in regular contact since that time and in our conversations the things that were important to him were clear, family-he spoke of Nina often, ATV racing and having a beer or twenty.
Both Amanda and I send our deepest sympathies to Malcolm's family and friends.
I will have a beer for the man who died doing what he loved. The sport won't be the same without him.

R.I.P. Malcolm

Terrible news, my heart goes out to his family and friends.

I too met Malcolm at the Vic round last year, hell of a nice bloke who had a great attitude towards his racing and a real passion for the sport he loved. May he rest in peace.

i had the pleasure of racing and drinking with malcolm of the years in christchurch and many events allover nz... will be sadly missed... thoughts go out to the whole family..... heres a right up from the christchurch star,,, THE DEATH of former Christchurch man Malcolm McVicar at a motorsport meeting in Australia has devastated a huge circle of friends on both sides of the Tasman.

Mr McVicar, 44, was a successful and popular competitor in ATV racing in New Zealand before moving to Quirindi, NSW, four years ago.

He won an Oceania super cross and four New Zealand ATV titles, as well as many South and North Island titles. Mr McVicar died in hospital after a quadrunner race at Tamworth on Saturday when his vehicle crashed off a jump and flipped, throwing him off.

He’d crashed so many times it was a shock this could happen, but it was the way he would have wanted to go, said his daughter Jessica.

Her father packed more into his 44 years than most people did in a lifetime, she said.
“He was the most generous man I’ve ever met. He always had time for us, and I was so proud of everything he did.”

Years ago Mr McVicar built a Mustang from a shell for racing at Ruapuna and the dragstrip. It was his pride and joy until his twins Jessica and Kane, now 21, were born.

He couldn’t fit them both in the back seat of the Mustang, so he switched to ATVs.

His third child, daughter Nina, 18, has followed in his footsteps in ATV racing. She was fated to – her father was late to her christening because he’d been competing at the South Island championships.

Mr McVicar went to Australia for his family company McVicar Timber to help build a new sawmill, but having grown up in Reefton he loved the small town life at Quirindi, met his partner Anne, and decided to stay.

He became a blaster at the local open cast mine, and even though he’d been in Australia only four years, the whole town was in shock over his death, said Jessica McVicar.

Tamworth Motorcycle Club president Paul Slade said Mr McVicar was a much respected mentor in the sport and a very good mate.

“He was a great guy, lived life to the full, and rode hard at every event,” he said.

ps... long live the penut shell and wig....

Thanks for all of your thoughts
Daddy was a well loved man wherever he went.
He made it into the major paper here- he would of liked that.
He always said that he didnt want to die at work though but no one ever imagined this.
I got a text (sms) from him on saturday and he said there was 20 quads and that his looked liked a farm quad!! i know he was having a good time, and that night he was going to be swinging on the sidecar.
Have a beer for him, I know we have been having a few. . For you Nzers have a speights and oz people just have any or (tooheys)

Dear Ning,
I had the pleasure of racing the first heat race with your dad and would like to say your dad can ride a quad real good ! I was thinking who is this guy I cant shake ! (your dad was sticking to me like glue !) I was riding my but off and he was still there!
After the race I asked a few people in the pits ,who is this guy ? and mentioned he is the NZ Champ... I felt real good that I had the pleasure to race with a New zealand champ .
I also found out he was 44 and was inspired that he was still racing ! (I am 42 and hanging in there)!
After the race I planed to go over and introduce myself ,but unfortunately, didnt get to meet with him in person , as the day seemed rather hectic . The MX race final came and he was at the pointy end of that race . From what I saw he rode a perfect race and it was a freak accident . I am soooo sorry for your loss .I hope you can accept my families deepest sympathy .
Hope to meet with you one day as I can then say I also met your dad ,as Im sure he is in you aswell as with you .
If you like and agree I would like to speak with Tamworth to hold a memorial Quad race for Malcolm,or maybe you would like to request this from Paul Slade...
RIP Malcolm .
Kind regards
Len and family

I met Malcolm at Round 1 of the vic series 2006 at Newry. We were camped at the footy oval and as soon as Malcolm arrived he came straight over and introduced himself to our "crowd", we all had a bit of a chat before he "moved on" to the other campers, such was his friendly nature.

In the first race he surprised the pro field by taking the holshot and leading racers half his age for over a lap on what was nearly a standard bike. Unfortunataly Malcolm didnt finish the race but it didnt dampen his spirit, sadly i never got another chance to compete against Malcolm.

Our deepest Sympathy goes to Malcolms family, he will be remembered by the Siemensma family

R.I.P Malcolm
