Just wondering why when an event is held in nsw how come it takes so long to get results or pics up? Every other state has them up that night or next day. Everyone involved ( sponsors etc) want more people to attend and ride in these events, with no publicity( except for this forum) no photos or results on events makes it hard to attracted new riders. Its been two days now since the Hardiman Cup and still nothing.

If You guys want more racing in nsw you need to get the word out to more than just the riders on this forum.

Sorry but that needed to be said

Thanks for your time

First of all Todd, as i said above if people knew when and where the events were on the could attend and help out!

Second Boyscout, i dont care who come first or last or what the results are. Everytime I talk to racers or people involved they all say they have trouble with sponsors for events and riders. I just think its as plain as I said.

Dont take me the wrong way, Im not attacking anyone. Shane has done and will keep on doing a great job at the hardiman cup and hadiman atv. All the people that help with events in nsw do a great jod also. It just pisses me of when you guys would rather winge about not enough sponsors or rider then listen to some constructive critisium. I'm a little confused....., US guys havent winged about sponsors or riders, we are doing quite fine there thanks, YOU were the one winging about no points being posted or photos. NSW doesnt even have a club and here are a few reasons why we dont :

President

Vice President

Secretary

Treasurer

Race Secretary

Marketing

Membership

Secretary

Club Newsletter

Riders Representative

General Committee x 8 positions

WHICH ONE DO YOU WANT TO TAKE OVER ???

Just to top things off, NSW's first big event got held a couple of months back. And yes we did get sponsorship, and yes we did do a heap of publicity, e.g. Fliers which went to all motorbike stores around, ATV Action did a right up to advertise, on this site, and by word of mouth. And you still couldn't be bothered to show face. So stop the whinging COTTO, and come to the next race. NOVEMBER 8th, Lakes Mx Track.

Just come to lakes and have some fun riding, No ones ridden lakes on a Quad, so it will be a new experience for all of us. Lakes are keen on having us next year to practise and race on their circuit, so the more numbers the better.

See you there.

Im just stating what everyone else is saying. You guys above are races yes? Well from us on the outside of your world looking in this is what we see. Im sorry if that has pissed you off but if nothing was ever said how would anyone ever know. I dont mine helping out when i can but i cant make it to all events and i dont think everyone can. But maybe some flyers or something past around local bike shops or where you ride would help with riders. Im willing to make flyers and past them out myself with the cost to me.

I have been called by some other riders and people that went to the event on the 11th and was told that most of the pro riders didnt even help with the marshaling, So lets not point the finger at any one person and fix this problem.

Has there ever been a Quad club in nsw?

The reason i think this is happening is because the grades are just what you as a rider want to enter. So what happens is that you get guys in c grade that arent quiet quick enough to run with the front runners in b's so they stay in c and blits the feild. Newbie riders that see this go there is no way i can be competitive in that class i will just slow them down. And trust me this is how people think i have had a few of the boys i ride with say this very same thing. They would love to have a go but feel intimidated because there is no current grading guide line. I know this will come with the club thing, I just think maybe at the start of the season before the first round of Hardiman Cup we should have a ride day that then can be used to grade current riders and newbies. This grading will stick for the entire year and be graded again next year. That would invite new riders to come and have a go without and pressure.

Like i said before this is just my point of view.

thanks

Yes rick you are right, but this is one event. there have been ten rounds of the Hardiman Cup (that i konw off) which the aboved mentioned by you should happen everytime there is a round. If we want more riders/help this needs to happen.

I didnt attack you then ok, i was just pointing out something.

Ahh the old clubman/c grade thing comes up again,
hers a couple of suggestions
Make the lowest grade non competitive, ie no trophies/awards, no scoring, no gate start that way the newbie can still get a feel for what racing is like without the sandbaggers.
or make it an experienced based thing eg clubman/C grade is for first year racers only if you have 2 years experience then you automatically go into intermediate or B's depending on what you call it.

new riders are definately intimidated by the lowest class being full of $20,000 bikes and a bunch of crazy's on the start line.

I doubt there is a full grid of B's let alone pros.

This is how i believe you will pull more numbers to MX

That would be perfect. Make it like D grade or REC grade so then there is room to move up a grade. This will make c grade a first year competitive group and leaves b grade for the faster more experienced riders.

Good stuff.
Thats using your noodle noodles

Hi guy's, it's funny you say about Newbie's being intimated seeing the difference between riders in the C class, I came to Barleigh Ranch on the 11th to have a look and watched for most of the day and had that feeling.
I have decided to give it a go out at lakes on the 8th and this will be my first time ever on a track at 40 year old. I just assumed that C grade was only for begginers and that's where you start at, and then have to move on up.
Anyway I am coming just for the fun of it, hopefully the next race won't be waiting for me to get off the track.

the way i heard c graders are this year around the traps is overkill seems c graders are running fox floats and all the bling if they can afford all that and have the good on their quad why not make em ride with guys who can

no use having the bling if ya cant use it

bullet and noodles know my opinion on this and was proved at vics a stockish suzuki won clubman one of the only quads there with stock shocks hmm someone who can ride maybe ??

just my opinion that guys who got the bucks and making there bikes look impressive in clubman are what is pushing ppl out i know as i stuggled to afford to run in expert but ya got guys in clubman pounding in the dollars

time for the sport to go back to grass roots of gradings i think

Sure it is intimidating but so is racing its not for every one.
Quad racing isnt the cheapest pastime out there But..........
The reality is the people getting into Quads are an older bunch( that generally bring kids into the sport with them) that have the money to spend on a toy and like to treat themselves to a few shiny bits. Many guys ride with $550 Flexx bars now cos it makes life more comfortable and less hard on the body, so do decent shocks. I ride in Clubby's on a Predator with a few bits on it, not the ideal MX weapon but I'm having a blast mixing it in the middle of the pack and today finished 1 1 1 and scored 2 holeshots on a $6500 bike in a field of $10-20K bikes with all the fruit. Clubbys is there to allow 1st year riders to get a taste and develop their ability before moving up into intermediates. I raced the Nationals this year because it was in SA and although I only had 20hrs of experience managed to finish 14th out of 20 however the Field had 3 16yr olds stepping up from blasters that won spots on the podium but they weren't clubman riders their lap times were well into expert times and they could jump the doubles section which was disappointing for us but they got a nice trophy.
So as Noodles said there will always be sandbaggers in a class but thats life if you are interested in racing give it a go I did and wouldn't look back if not winning your first time out is what is holding you back then you need a reality check. I was just happy to finish the 4 laps in one piece first time out. Dont worry about anyone else out there you've paid to ride so head out and cut your laps all day. If you dont go home grinning like a (really nice person) then MX isnt for you.

Just my 2cents worth.
Hope to see alot more clubbys out there as they are where the sport will grow from

Noodles has this spot on and JRE is a great example 'Clubby'.
Next year you might move yourself up to 'Intermediate Class' (as per GR 17.7.1.1).

Clubman is a class for the social level rider. People who are thinking of taking up racing. Ordinary 'Club' members having a go.
Why would yo want a trophy for beating everyone at this level.
The awards should be Encouragement Awards, or Display of New Skill type stuff. Every entrant should be congratuated and probably most importantly sarting at the back of the pack.

And what do you know... Intermediate explains itself also.
ie. between a beginer and a Pro. 'Iiinn-terrr-mediate' not EXPERT.
In quad racng it's like you've done a 12 month traineeship and then you battle 'Experts'.

Push riders up and grow the sport Smile
If we had full Intermediate and Pro classes and only 4 people in Clubman weve got it right.
That woud effectively advertise that the entry class is very open for new people, so please come and have a go.

Having said all that, I think most states did a reasonably good job of promoting riders to higher grades this year.
Hats off to the very many riders like Manshee, Noodles, Jake VV etc, who stepped themselves up. Well done.
A minority of others might have missed the opportuniy to get that step right, and might be seen as sand baggers. That's not my opinion on their decison, and my opinion does not matter anyway.
It's what happens next, and the general quad commnity's interpretation of their decision to stay back that does absolutely nothing for sport growth.

The last thing we need is a 'D' grade.
Just use what we already have effectively.
From what i saw, Most Clubman racing was usually close and they got on like a bunch of mates.

Good work, just stay on to it for next year Smile
