hey
has anyone put the motor out of the banshee into a yfz 450 frame?
just a random question i guess, because everyone says a banshee is really fast because of its engine but has "profanity removed" handling for mx...so if you had the handling of a yfz 450 and the engine of a banshee wouldn't that be like the best quad ever...well besides the sound of ting ting ting. _________________ the stuf on the 04 yfz... lonestar axle(thanks jono), protaper bars ,2+stem, Pro armour, jetted ,custom airbox (thanks to huskygoat),unifilter,Gibson LT a arms, Fox float x evol, 08 swingarm (thanks Quad), stroked( thanks quad squad) |

i had my first maiden voyage on my bike on the weekend.
there is no comparisson between the banshee and the raptor 660, let alone a yfz450, as far as steering and general stability go. i had the 421 in the banshee to begin with, and it rode ok but a little on the sketchy side once past 100 kph.
now that the motor is in the 660 frame the difference is amazing.
lotsa power and yet great handling.
what else can we ask for as quad riders |

at last someone that makes a valid statement, the only bad point about mine is having too many mods, which makes it un reliable, but im getting there and getting on top of that prob, but as for handling i havent ridden anything better , and others have said this when riding it as well. |

The banshee should be the best over 100k, it has the longest wheel base so it will be more stable at high speed.(providing the front steering geometry is correct) _________________ Queensland Quad Riders Association

what about weight distribution, steering castor etc?
stock for stock the 660 is far superior i have found.
once i go +2 swingarm and +2 a arms and axle it should handle and go almost as well as my yellow bike.... well maybe not.. |

my banshee with stock swinger, shocks and +2 a arms is pretty stable on top of 6 gear, sometimes i want it to go faster because the handling is that stable.
it maybe the alignment of the wheels, if it isnt stable over 100kph then something isnt right...
never riden a 660 or 700, but would sure love too one day. |

ok maybe i should explain what i ment.
my yfz10r is all i had to compare high speed stability too.
and compared to that the banshee felt twichy.
certainly controllable, but not ideal.
the 660 frame feels a lot closer to the yfz for handling.
the raptor is geared for around the 170 kph running 22 inch rears.
so the more stability i can get the better. |
