i'm just wondering how many riders would be interested in taking part in an event like this. how popular is speedway in your state at the moment? if you think it's worth starting the process of organising such a beast post your reply and any suggestions of how we could do it.
my first thought was maybe something like a 3 round series and for example we could hold round 1 at pioneer park QLD, round 2 mildura VIC, and maybe round 3 gillman SA. obviously the track operators would need to be in agreeance and maybe other quad riders can come up with better suggestions too. maybe 3 rounds is too much, or not enough.
so far in SA we have had 6 competitive events at gillman speedway, utilising either a 4 or 5 rider standing starts with each heat over 4 laps.
the interest in these events was good to start with and has recently accelerated to a surprising level.
let me know if this is a possibility or if i need to wake up and smell the coffee

It's a concept Kev, I know that there are at least 6 regular spedway riders in Vic and there woulod probably be some more come out of the closet if there were more events. QRCV are going to trry to get involved a bit in some speedway/dirt track events this year so meybe there will be a few more guys interested later in the year.

Build-it.... and they will come

it may be easier with a single championship event rather than a series IMO for starters
.
.
complete the attached..
http://www.ma.org.au/AM/Template.cfm?Section=News9&Template=/CM/ContentDisplay.cfm&ContentFileID=21095
Quad Speedway is not a current allocated championship, so you'll need to attach a couple of pages that satisfy 13.2.6, page 99 of the GCR's
http://www.ma.org.au/Content/MA/RacingDisciplines/Generalcompetitionrules/Manual_of_motorcycl.htm
this will go to the M.A. board and they will sanction, in theory
.
pretty sure I heard that the Australian Sidecar Championships had less than 50 competitors last year.....
.
.
.
.
and whilst we're on Australian Championships
which one of you slack-arsss''sss have put there hands-up for the 2007 Quad MX titles.
.
.
cause it'll end-up in W.A. again if you nancies can't get your act together Laughing

Great Idea ! NSW would be able to get around 10 interested Riders, depending on location...Barleigh Ranch in NSW may also be a venue as they hold a lot of Australian titles for two wheelers ,the last time we raced there ,Casey Stoner was Racing a two wheeler,it was awsome.
Maybe to start with you could put on a Championship with sponsor prize money and Trophies at Gillman SA . Pigz ,Todd ,Nitro and I will come from NSW !
Cheers Len

I can think of a couple brisbane riders that would be keen. Plus I geuss a bunch of riders from Ayr would give it a go.

update

spoke to the track manager at gillman today
they are keen to run an event in either march or april if we can muster it
preliminary discussions at this stage suggest running a qualifier starting around midday one saturday, this should (depending on number of entrants) be finished by 6.00pm then a break for tea and then have the main meeting at night under lights consisting of the top 16 points scorers from qualifying, and then 17th to 32nd run as a "B" or consolation grade support class. both groups would be run under a traditional 16 man format as per solos and after 4 rounds the top 4 point scorers run a final for each grade
approx prize money would be $500 1st $250 second $100 third.
trophies would be provided for 1st to 3rd for the consolation final
to make this financially viable it is proposed that each rider will pay an entry fee plus ma rider levy. spectators and any support personel will be charged a gate entry fee plus an insurance levy for pit entry. (there are some restrictions regarding pit entry at speedway meetings, if this event does happen the supp regs will indicate requirements)
obviously the more people in the gate the less the fees will need to be so if I can get expressions of interest either posted here or pm'ed to me I can work on finalising the costs and/or finding sponsorship to assist. alternatively if required we can set the entry costs to reflect a larger prize pool
at the moment this is all just speculation so if i could get some responses to this post so i know what i'm working with i can progress further
any suggestions would also be welcomed

nb: this would be a called a quad cup NOT an aust title, i'm still trying to get clarification on using the terms Australian and/or National from MA
it will be an open event though so senior national licences are a must ( 1 DAY EVENT LICENCES WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE)

sounds like your on a roll Cool
go.... you good thing Very Happy Cool Cool Very Happy
.

.
If we want it to be the
"The Australian Quad Speedway Championships" with allocated Australian Championship status
then our submission to M.A. should be written as such.
.
the M.A. board meets and accepts or rejects event championship status, but it may depend on the quality of your submission and criteria it meets as per topic post above.

PM me your E-mail or phone number and I can send you through a document that could be doctored
we've recently gone through the process
