 |
|
I've had my banshee for bout five years and it's had lots of mods;
-lonestar axle
-uni air filter
-FMF pipes
-shaved head
(ect)
I've always wanted to get into MX but never had the time or dollars. This comming season im gonna give it a crack and I've noticed that hardly anyone is racing banshees any more. Wanting to stay loyal to the two strokes, when building my new ride wat mods should i be looking into so im kickin some four stroke ass. (Besides A-arms, shocks n Balls of Steel)
Should i be looking at a big bore kit, or can enough pwr be brought out of the 350?
Is the RZ power valve engine much more gutsy than the YFZ?
Is a shorter axle gion to make much difference when goin for the hole shot? |

i hate to say it, but your going to be flogging a dead horse trying to turn a banshee into a competitive mx machine..
even if you spent a fortune on a-arms, swing arm and shocks, the power delivery will wear you out.
if you want to stay loyal to 2 strokes, get a honda 250R, there are a few around for sale atm...
if you are dead set on riding mx on it, +3+1 a arms, -1 or -2 swing arm and custom built pep shocks all round. 18 inch rear tyres. pt mids or pro-circuit pipes. mild port job by someone who knows what they are doing. single carb so easier throttle pull. steering dampener. programmable ignition and plenty of dyno time to shift the power to where you want it.
that or find a lonestar or laeger outlaw chassis, 250r geometery.
it all starts getting a bit expensive though and you are far better off buying a well sorted, second hand 4 stroke! _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

my banshee is half set-up for MX but i am knowhere near competitive. i just got out there have a bit of fun. if i wanted to go into the next class it would deffiently be on a 450..
like 4 stroker said, your beating a dead horse, untill they release some newer 2 stoke technologys (if ever) it doent matter how well your suspension and everything is you just can put the power to the ground as well as the thumpers. as loyal as i am to the 2 stokes, your fighting a losing battle.
on the otherhand if you want to race flat track or TT a big HP banshee would be ok _________________ 01 Banshee

a big bore, power valve 250R with aftermarket suspension is going to be the closest youll ever get on a 2 stroke, like this one of BIG NUTS for sale for $10,000:
a decent rider would be more than competitive on that... _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

to answer your rz question, its really only worth it if you also invest in the programmable ignition and powervalve controller for it, and spend some time on the dyno setting it up.
if you arent prepared to do that, then no, its not worth it for mx. _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

Do the A-arms suggested and 1" out off-set front wheels.
Only aim for bottom and mid range with the engine mods (forget max top end hp).
Ask the 2 stroke boys on here about how to get it.
And just go and have fun anyway.
We should have a historic 2 stroke only support class just for something different _________________ Can-Am X Team
