Does anyone go to Lake Eildon for a ride? Well let me tell you better don't go anymore Goulburn Murry Waters has now effectivly "locked The Gate" and with their new "By Law" if you drive, ride anywhere other than down a boat ramp you will be taken to Court and charged $1500 for driving on the lake bed.

Yes, all around Bonnie Doon gates are locked, so any access will have to be via a boat ramp, even if you are fully registered and drive a car or 4WD road legal you will also be fined the same.

Well looks like it is all over for all of us, State Forests are closed, Crown Land is off limits, where can we go to ride/drive in the Mansfield Area besides Stump Hill?

Mad

G'Day Buzz.

Where did you get this info from ? We have an onsite van in Mansfield and we havnt heard anything about it...yet.
If they do what you say, towns like Goughs Bay, Mansfield, Bonnie Doon, etc would loose so much money from quad/bike riders being scared off.
I dont know what they are thinking !!!!!

Cheers...Rosco

So does that mean that you were allowed to ride in the lakebed around Bonnie Doon prior to this new policy ?? If so looks like a whole lotta us missed out.!

Got from very good source, GMW is putting gates up all around Bonnie Doon (check it out done!) and new signage is happening soon - I agree this will be the end for the local Busnisses. I knew it would only be a matter of time, they (GMW) pushed to lock up the lake some 7 years ago and the locals stopped it, but now it looks like they are trying a different approach with their By Laws! I am waiting for the signes to go up and I will get the local news papers behind it as it must be stopped for all of us!

Registered or unregistered makes no difference you will cop a $1500 fine!

No before you could not but the law was not clear as the Police would regard the lake as a public place so Registered vehicles could go there. If the lake has a fence around it (this is why they are closing the loop hole), and the signage saying that you can only go on the boat ramps than you are in fact trespassing on private property and this is where the By law kicks in $1500!.

So if you want to go fishing and you drive the 4WD down to the waters edge, they will book you! Expensive Fish hey!
