G'day!

Just joined today.

When I was still in high school me and my bro had a Kawasaki Lakota 300, removed as much as possible, tweaked the carby, changed sprockets.... that's about it.

Took the toy out with a few of the 2 stroke MX boys (and kept up with the 125 riders, mainly because I was pushing very hard) and did some fun trail riding in the Riverina NSW and the occasional track visit (including a BMX track haha, that was fun!)

8 years later I haven't ridden anything but looking to get back into it with a second hand ATV.

Thinking about a Honda 400EX, Yamaha Raptor (not sure which one), Suzuki LTZ400.... Pretty much anything 4 stroke with usable power for good all round trail riding.

Looking to spend under or around 5k.... Any adice fellow ATVers?

Cheers

Cheers guys, might have a slight change of thought....

Now looking into 2nd hand Banshee's.
I know they are slightly outdated in the engine and chassis department but they may be the only sports ATV in my price range...

My main need for a 4 stroke was useable power & torque for trail riding and reliability.
But from previous experience with 2 strokes I think the Banshee would be relatively easy to maintain rebuild etc. my only concern is the crankshaft.
And I should be able to learn how to use the 2 stroke power for trail riding.

And easy to gain power later on if I get bored...

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the comments so far.

i reckon you should stick with the 400 idea. i recently got rid of a 400, was a great bike. and you should be able to pick one up for around $5k easily.
