im sure a few of the modified banshees were over the 500 cc limit.

don't think anybody checks. A few *stock* class bikes weren't excactly stock.

I know how frustrating it is when your rider lines up with a stock bike (after going to the trouble of ensuring it is reverted to stock), in the stock class, and bikes either side of them definitely do not qualify for this class.

the limit is actually 550cc for two strokes, and 700cc for 4 strokes, plus a 5% tolerance.

the only big bore banshees this year were quaggy's 511cc trex and brooksys 485cc cheetah.

i dont think MA ruling really comes into it though, as there is a street bike class??

also there was one of them crazy can-am's in our class too, im sure they are bigger than 700?!

if you bought your rig along dangerman im sure they would have let you run it. if anything they would have asked the rest of us riders and on behalf of me and my mates we would have been all for you riding with us.

next year i would love to see a heap of the crazier quads in this country come along to compete. if we got enough, we could have 3 classes:

Stock
Modified
Unlimited

then the top 3 from each class (or maybe just mod and unltd) could compete in a king of the beach final like the bikes do.

would be very interesting i reckon!

hope you big boys with the turbos and the like can corner like this but!

I know for a fact the top 2 place getters bikes in the (STOCK) class are all (STOCK) engines. And neither of them had pipes!!!

I guess our definition of STOCK is different to that of other peoples' definition.

To me a STOCK bike has no pipes or engine work etc.

well i saw a banshee in there with pipes on but every time i saw him he was comin last, so i guess it doesnt really matter?

was pretty funny to see young brooksy on the 09 got beaten by the old man on the older machine! i wouldve thought stock for stock that the new one would go better??

hey does anyone know the guy's name on the big Can-Am in the modified class? i want to contact him about putting his name etc in the story for the magazine.

thanks

Well I weigh almost 15KG more than Dad and my bike is nearly 30KG heavier than his as well so i guess that evened out the age difference.

I personnally had a great time racing that close with him all day and was more than happy to be beaten by him of all people, After all he has won the STOCK class 3 yrs in a row now.

Maybe he could also be the better rider of the family???

Colin Lawson from Extreme Motorcyces in Atherton might be the bloke you're looking for.
Mr.Extreme on this forum.

i will take both my quads so its not a waste if the organisers say no at the last minute.

Hell yeah, bring whatever crazy rigs you blokes have to Mackay next year! This year was my 5th win at grasstree and I personally would love to see you guys there. And if you are really capable of doing 200kph it would be awesome to see a shootout between the King of the Quads vs King of the Bikes!!!

i will be heading out for a ride in a month or so once my other bike is completed, so i will do some high speed filming and take a gps with me to clock top speed.
on a relitavely flat beach im sure 230kph isnt out of the question asuming the tyres are still on the rims.
