Amanda and I were lucky enough to have Australian ATV legend Rick Beer and his family spend Xmas with us (including dog Bundy). The Beers arrived the Sat before Xmas and left the Sat after giving us time to show them around the area and get a couple of rides in.

The quad trailer got to see a part of oz it had not been to before and was loaded to the hilt- 2 DS650's and about 50 cartons of Crownies. Obviously Rick was thinking family holiday when packing. In the 2 years of knowing Rick I have seen him drink 1 Beer- I've only ever seen him in race season. Terri had been talking him up before they arrived as to how much he was going to drink and the big fella lived up to it for the first 6-12 every day, before needing a nanna nap to recharge those old batteries.

Boxing day we went duning with all the boys- including my old man on Ricks spare tractor, which rolled over him nearly crushing the old fella. A good fun day hooning through the dunes. Just to show Rick a good time one of the boys launched his brand new LE YFZ450 of a massive razorback while hanging from one leg under the quad. Rick was most impressed with this neat trick.

A phone call to Smithy saw him arrive for the next days night ride through the Canunda National Park. The trip down was in the day light and fairly fast paced. Every time we stopped our 2 guests were grinning like cheshire cats, with common woo hoo's and the like. We got to our destination on dark and headed back. The pace didn't drop off much at all and I even got to pass the Finke Master at full noise, slapping from one side of the track to the other. On arrival back at the car, beer and chicken sandwhiches were waiting when Smithy said- QUOTE- That was the best trail ride I have ever been on. Everyone agreed

While they were here we also did some caving, gokarting, bowling, etc. I let Rick beat me at bowls or he'd never come back. All in all an excellent week, for us anyway. Will be good to see some more people come down this way. Possibly for a Vic round and maybe an SA round? We'll see.

Hope I haven't bored everyone too much.

Cheers, Daryl

Hell yeah that was a "profanity removed" load of FAST FUN!!!! Hitting whoops at full tilt under moonlight was an expirance to remember. I also got to ride the ledgenary DS650 and I can tell you all that Beery should of sold them both to the local fishermen to use as boat anchors. I feel sorry for Daryl's old man who got squashed by one the day before
