What trailers have people got for their buggies & UTV's?

I just bought a RZR and particularly I'd like to know how people are carrying them around but also some other idea's as I have an inciling that I might have to rough out my own design and get it made.

Whats the wheelbase dimensions? The RZR has a 77" wheelbase but I think the front comes down too low to hang over the front to put it to the front wheels. I could flat bed it on a 7x4 or maybe a 6x4 but my pick up might be in a 8x5 for security of clearance.

Eventually I want a camper trailer and plan to have it in the trailer as I think at 102" in total length it may stick out more than I desire, but I'll check that and maybe just buy "off the rack" trailer.

Tony, it would be great to set a date and work towards it ... maybe a date in spring before things get too hot if its to be at the dunes?? That way we may be able to get some guys to come from a distance (and that slacko that probably has his pilot closer to the dunes than anyone else but never goes might even make it!!!)

Hey you guys get your own room!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

I forgot theres about 4 of us here that represent for "real" ATV's the others are actually quadcycles!!

Well theres not much feedback to be had I think from a group of 4 better try the 4x4 page since they have about the same wheelbase.

Better expand your group of 3 and make it a joint RZR club too at least there'd be one more!! Laughing Razz

Sorry Geeman ... I thought about posting a pic of my trailer but I don't think it would help you as the RZR is fairly different to my buggies (in ways relevant to trailer design) and I always find posting pics on this site is just too hard (which is my fault entirely - I've posted pics here before but I'm too darn slack to learn AND remember how to do it).

I think you're probably best off with a box trailer and ramps unless you're going to purpose build a trailer. I'd be looking at building something real low and as light as possible. I'm not sure about weight distribution of a RZR so I can't comment on those parts of design. I also don't know much about the suspension on an RZR (or what suspension you might be putting on) so I'd have difficulty saying whether you should have suspension on the trailer or not.

Sorry I'm of no help.

Apology accepted!! Laughing Laughing

Nah I know, they're different machines but if you've put some custom stuff on it that may show some handy accessories that would be good if you want to PM me for an e-mail addy.

I think with the 77" - 50" wheelbase I can fit it inside a 7x4 with 2" on the sides (or tyres scraping) and the tyres fitting up to the end, so if a got a trailer in that size I'd need to put my gas etc in a box in front etc

I'll only find out when I get it i think. I was hoping not to buy one at this stage as I dont have room in the city.

Why dont you look at an 8'x5' trailer should fit in that , not sure how you were intending to get away without a trailer at some time or another you will have to get one to move it around , unless you drive it onto the boot of your car and up on the roof

Geeman my trailer is a 8x6. I have a set of removable ramps that are kept on the drawbar. The trailer was purchased for use at work but made to suit the Pilot laughing

Have actually already managed to tee up just that (8x5) from my Bro-in-law with a tandem I didnt know he had picked up.

I dont have room to store a trailer if owning it, so atm the plan is to hire or borrow each time I go out which is a bummer but thats the facts.

In terms of finally owning one I want to make sure I make it as efficient as possible to be in the room I have so seeing other peoples design idea's seems prudent.

You could probably get a light weight 8x5 in a single axle config , and stand it on its bum when not in use, a mate of mine in hawthorn does the same , doesnt take up to much space then

Unfortunaterly my housing is medium density so I dont even have room for that but I think if I finally get a trailer and Im still in this house I'll sacrifice one of the vehicles to out in the drive and garage the buggy on the trailer will fit by tonites effort of putting borrowed trailer in same. Good idea, picked it up Thursday and had only a quick couple of rides in he past two days due to other timing.

Im on about an 8 acre block at a friends in Hay NSW. Pretty dry but some good washaways, som clumps of trees and some very fast sweepers that just invite you to stick it to it and power slde through.

Blody brilliant and compared to the mid size quads Ive ridden (fourbys) it eats them and then a whole lot more. I cant imagine going this hard on a quad but I know people can, but I certainly couldnt for any period of time where-as with the RZR I can do this pace fr hours.

The whole CVT thing instead of auto gears is a bit wierd compared to the halves Ive been riding which all have gears. But getting used to riding what is a bob-sled power train on wheels.

Ive been sucking lemons to try and give my cheeks a break from smiling.

Not going too rad yet as no under protection (a standard plate is on main body but no A-arm etc) and I'll get rock sliders and brush guards.

Oher than that its as much for hunting as trails so I have located a "silencer" to bolt on as wel, and then look at some luggage.

Will do the picks and load them in some sections next week.

how do you fit both the RZR and a car at the same time now then Gav?

maybe you should look at getting a custom trailer made for it so it is not jts a big old 8x5 taking up space....

Havent had the RZR home yet boys, picked it up on the way out of town and still out of town know.

It will likely in the short term reside at my brother in-laws who has space.

He's the one who owns the trailer anyway. Either that or I leave it in my garage to work on at my leisure and park a car outside.

That the sitrep.

Hey Bloke - I am also in the process of looking for a trailer and have decided to build one myself. I will basically be a flat bed trailer running 14 inch rims that the tray will cover. Not quite sure on the exact dimensions yet as I am waiting to pick up my Rhino 700. But in theory I want to be albe to side load this as well as my yfz450, my banshee and my sons suzuki 50 so thinking that it will have to be a tandem axle job. Also looking at a 60lt water tank underneath and some where to put a toolbox for gear and other stuff.

I am going to try and keep the centre of gravity low so it tows well. The ramps will be stored underneath and will be able to be used on anyside of the trailer. I have done some basic drawings up in CAD but are waiting to confirm measurements.

Will post some pics once I have started.

Cheers
