Preparations in full swing for Bushfire Relief Day
Preparations for the MV Bushfire Relief Day, to be held on Saturday 8th August at the State Motorcycle Sports Complex at Broadford, are ramping up with the final touches being put on the plans for the event.
It will be close to exactly 6 months to the day since ‘Black Saturday’ and the MV Bushfire Relief Day will be the final chance for people to donate to the MV Bushfire Fund.
The MV Bushfire Fund was created earlier this year with the aim of raising money for MV Members who were affected by the Bushfires to try and keep them in the sport they love.
After the day is completed, MV will compile all the money that has been raised over the last few months and will distribute this to the members whose situation was made aware to MV.
At the MV Bushfire Relief Day, practice sessions will be available on the Road circuit, Motocross track, Supercross track, Dirt Track, Enduro loop and Trials area.
There will be a one off fee of $30 which will entitle the rider to participate on any track, except the Road circuit, for which their bike is suitable. For example, a person with a Motocross bike could participate on the Motocross track, Supercross track and Enduro loop all for just $30.
The Road Circuit will be run by Champions Ride Days under their normal conditions at their normal rates, much of which will be donated to the MV Bushfire Fund. Bookings are essential and can be done through Champions directly at www.championsridedays.com.au.
With a large number of riders expected there will be three separate parking areas set up and we recommend that you park in the area at which you intend to spend the majority of your day. Food and drink facilities will be available at each parking area, which is being provided by various local groups including the CFA and Lions Club. Sign in/riders briefing will also be conducted at each parking area.
Further information regarding the specific location of these parking areas, information on each track and other general information relating to the day can be found on the MV website, www.motorcyclingvic.com.au, or can be obtained by contacting the MV Office.
Any further questions please pm me for parking and riding schedule
You can get a rec licence for $20 if you dont have a MA licence.
Quads can ride the MX track, Dirt track and enduro track over the course of the day
cheers

Fly high at the Bushfire Relief Day
People attending the MV Bushfire Relief Day at Broadford this Saturday will have the chance to fly high…and it has nothing to do with the motorcycling action on offer.
Strap yourself in for the ride of your life, but this time in a Robinson 44 helicopter as you take off and circle the tracks capturing the views and vistas of the area.
Make sure you take your camera for this opportunity because you will have a smile from ear to ear as you land and ask to do it all over again.
ABY Aviation will offer the joy flights to everyone attending on Saturday at the special rate of $35 per person for five minutes, or $70 per person for 10 minutes.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the State Motorcycle Sports Complex like never before.
The MV Bushfire Relief Day aims to raise as much money as possible for the MV Bushfire Fund.

Hundreds enjoy Bushfire Relief Day
Despite the early morning chill, over 250 riders converged on Broadford for Motorcycling Victoria’s Bushfire Relief Day, raising much needed money for the MV Bushfire Fund.
Just on $10,000 was raised on the day, including $3,000 from Champions Ride Days, which will now be added to the money already in the MV Bushfire Fund and distributed to MV members affected by the Black Saturday Bushfires.
With clear skies and perfect tracks on offer, the riders took full advantage and rode until their heart was content. And with all circuits open, except the Dirt Track, the riders mixed it up as they switched between the Motocross and Enduro circuits, while a few also took in a bit of Supercross in the afternoon.
The Champions Ride Day at the Road Circuit was also a big success, with close to 100 people turning out to enjoy the day.
ABY Aviation was on hand to offer the riders a unique view of the State Motorcycle Sports Complex...from the passenger seat of a Robinson 44 helicopter. Just over two dozen people took up the offer and now have a unique memory from their day.
It was especially pleasing to see so many new faces on Saturday, with over 80 One Day Licenses being sold on the day.
Like any event, the day wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless work of our dedicated volunteers who turned out to ensure the day ran as smoothly as possible.
“The day was a massive success, but this wouldn’t have been possible without the handful of dedicated volunteers who helped out on the day and to them we say a big thank you,” said Mark Willingham, a member of the MV Executive Council and organiser of the Bushfire Relief Day.
“I’d also like to thank the staff at the MV Office and at Broadford for their efforts in making the day the success that it was,” he continued.
MV General Manager, Mark Campbell, was also delighted with the day.
“I had the great honour in attending this significant event and was warmed by the enjoyment, enthusiasm and friendly nature of all competitors and recreational riders I met during the day.”
“The MV Bushfire Relief Day was a great success for all involved and has raised significant funds for those affected by the tragedy of the February Bushfires,” he said.
It was heartening to see members from the local Broadford CFA attend the event and also do their own fundraising, whilst at the same time providing the riders with some much needed nourishment courtesy of their “Snack Attack” bar, and we thank them for their efforts.
MV also extends its thanks the Broadford Lions Club and Fuel Café (Tess Knight) for providing food and drink all day to competitors at other areas of the complex. |
