Looking for some Ideas for a event in NT . We have land to burn and rules are , you know in the manual.

My Ultimate Ride would be for a race around Frazer Island . Up the beach on low Tide and back down the bush on the west side. Fuel stops about 6hrs

Moto sprint?
TP300 type?
Safari?
Hare & Hound ?(old blokes)
Finke?
Prizemoney?
Qld ThunderX?

That sounds like it would be good , you could stop for a while and have a barra fishing comp as well

Do you really want to know
6-8 hrs over 2 days? something with varying terrain, no short laps like TP 60-70 ks between fuel stops.

there is a enduro here in SA called the 24Hr , so far quads cant do this (its a rego thing for now )

you do three laps of a large track 24hr not sure of all the rules but this one would test quad and rider for sure.

maggots and neil have done this in 01 i think but then they got stopped because of rego. (there is some road section) between property .

Start at Alice, race to Mataranka for an overnight stop and swim in the spring pool, race to Darwin and back to Alice again.

All dirt tracks. No bitty. X country would be even better. Way point GPS navigation and just zig zag your way across.

We both finished just fine, they just would not let us do it again.

I think we should try to set up a beach race like the Grasstree Beach Races that are held near Mackay. There is a write up on this event in the Jan/Feb 09 issue of ATV Action. The perfect spot would be below the Dripstone cliffs at Casuarina beach. There would be excellent viewing from the top of the cliffs. Entry to the beach would be via the carpark near the surf lifesaving club house.

I'm sure the greenies would object to this idea, but if the races were held below the high tide mark the next high tide would wash away any trace of us being there.

This is Proposed Only

The Rum Jungle 500 3 Day Quad Fest.

Held on Australia Day long weekend.

35km Track wide open forest trails (no swamps) 10km Treed forest & Jungle. The fast guys will do 30min lap.

Day 1 Scrutineering 8am till 10 am
11am Mud challenge 4x4 only 500m track 2 riders at a time.
1pm riders brief then sighting lap.
2pm prologue

Day2 Morning Race 8am till 11am Women juniors
Lunch Display UTV 11.30 till12.30
Afternoon Race 1pm till 4pm 450 OPEN 4x4 Pony express

Day2 NIGHT 6.30pm till 8.30 450s 0pens 4x4 pony express


Day 3 All races start in corrected order.
Morning Race 7.30am till 10.30
Lunch Display UTV 11.00 12.00
Afternoon Race 12.30 to 3.30
Presentation 4pm

Prizes are kindly donated by our local Bike shops to the value of $6000 eg Tyres chains handlebars

Last lap board when the leader will cross the line closest to the time period.


What do reckon pete Fuel stops.

There will be NO DUST and the rain is warm.

Make it a 60km lap if you can that way the track will hold up better and everyone can do one lap per fill up..... if you can.

2 strokes can make 60km easy. Just about any std tank can. If there is no dust then a night session like noodles said sounds the go! The track should be at a secret location marked out the weekend before the race by a non competitor that way the track is not pre run. Perhaps go to route notes and make it a navigational rally like Condo and Safari..... perhaps.

John the block of land is ten minutes out of Darwin if We went to 60km I would need to shift down the track a little. No big deal Icould get it out to 40 kms I reckon.

Australia day weekend is were I'm aiming. The public Hol is on the tuesday, bummer, so its going to be Sat Sun event with scrutineering Fri night .

Format Now Fri night 6-7pm scurniteering

Sat 8am Prologue 4km track 8am -10am
10am till 12pm 4x4 Mud challenge
12 -1230 lunch
12-30 - 2-30 seniors 4x4 pony express
3 -5 womens and juniors
Night race
5.30 - 830 seniors 4x4 pony express

Sun UTV demo challenge 8am -10am
10.30 - 1pm womens and juniors
1.30pm 4pm seniors 4x4 pony express

Presentation 4.30-5pm
