I am curious as to how many of you have been fined for riding your ATV's where you shouldn't be?

The reason being I just bought my son a 50cc Quad Bike and there are a few bush tracks in my area, but they are posted as no motorbike riding.

Who watched 'The Force' last week. It showed a couple of quad riders near Newcastle getting chased by Highway Patrol on WR450's. The fine's were over $1,000. One of the fines is riding without a motorbike licence. How come you don't need a motorbike licence for Stockton, but if your riding illegally it's a requirement?

Anyway, back to the question asked. No, I haven't been fined.

Stockton has a sanctioned RVA (rec vehicle area) and if you have the required rec rego you may ride within that area with no license. However the beach that was on "The Force" comes under the same laws as the road i believe. Differant laws in the RVA maybe. Rolls eyes It used to be governed by National Parks and Wildlife but i think it now comes under Worrimi "something or other". Good question.

Mate to be honest its a lucky dip with all places unless like the boys said at stockton u have your conditional rego, etc.

Like many of times i have been riding out at menai near my house (sutherland shire area) i have had cops plenty of times drive straight past us taking bikes off trailers, etc. and just driving pass as if its completely normal yet others say u cant ride there.... Hrm

Then at stockton for the second time this weekend saw the rangers, and again like i usually do went over to them said hello told them it was my frist time and asked them which way do i go, and they pointed in the direction and sent me on my way i didnt have rego, a pass, nothing.

Like i said lucky dip ... Smile

The rangers are pretty good blokes at stockton if you treat them with respect. The will give out warnings to people if you havent got rego and take your name. If you an wonderful person and back chat you will get fined.

G'Day,

I got pinged at our favorite riding spot, cost me around $650....
I have since found out that 99.9999999% of people just pay the fine to avoid any ongoing dramas. What I have since been told to do is that when you get your reminder notice in the mail, you send it back asking for it to be heard in court then they (so I have been told) throw it out because it's too hard.

I think the Q here should be "Has anyone EVER taken one of these fines to court" ?????

And if so, What happened ??

I think we will find out that NO-ONE has been in court over one of these fines...

Should be interesting....

Cheers...Rosco

I got caught riding a 185s trike on the roads..... long time ago........ copped a $1,200 fine and lost my license for 8 months....... needless to say the judge was not happy with me.
