 |
|
i have been riding my raptor for the last 3 weeks and have noticed it slipping severly , under power in second gear. i put this down to clutch malfunction and this is what i was going to replace. that was until today .
it happened again . i changed up to third and it was fine, i went back to second and it started again. i feel something is wrong with second gear.
the question i am asking is has any one else had this trouble and how have they fixed it. it probably dosent help having 90 hp at wheels either. |

| You will have to do the whole gear box. 02 & up is fine they changed in 02. www.rapptortranny.com explains the diffrences. Also has step by step instructions on fitting the new box. You can pick a gearbox up on ebay from the USA for under $300. |

| You will have to get a new box to fix the problem 02/05 boxes are a stronger set up. |

| i have spoken to luke beechey today and his advice was dont order any parts as such because it may even be a damaged selector fork thats causing the problem, but we dont know till its pulled apart so thats happening this weekend after we pull it out of the bike tomorrow night . then we will see what needs replacing it could be that it might be a gear that needs replacing hope so the less money we have to spend the better . and my wife agrees. |

turns out no damage to gears or gearbox , just a bit of wear on 2nd gear cog where it meshes into select, so just have to replace 2nd ,and reverse gear and a spacer, so will get out of it for just under $ 1000 including labour.
when i get it fixed i will be posting it the buy and sell forum, missus dosent want me spending any more money on it. looking to upgrade to a late model 450 race quad. |
