Is it just me or are Australians really slow at the ebay / mail order / customer service thing
I have purchased a few items from ebay (ebay.com.au) over the past few years, and I realise in the case of 4WD accesories I have not actually saved money but I have also not helped local business people who need to pay the bills, put the kids through school blah blah blah. I have never really been too impressed with the speed at which things are done once I click on the PAY button.
Recently I bought some second hand parts for my quad from the big old US of A (ebay.com) and they were delivered to me from Ohio to Perth in 5 days, with full tracking via UPS (US postal service). Yes, I paid nearly one hundred US dollars in freight, but the service, follow up, and response was amazing. The parts were newer cheaper and in better condition than anything I could get here in OZ.
A few weeks ago I bought two items from a retailer on ebay Australia and it has taken 12 days to send me an email to say the bloody things have been posted !! eek is right! I'm going riding this weekend and it looks like I won't have these bits by then. HHHMMPPPHH. _________________ Cheers,

I have had many instances where I order parts from within Australia (mainly Melbourne - I'm in Sydney) and I have ordered parts from the USA at the same time - the parts from the USA have never been far behind the parts from Australia and in many instances the parts from the USA have beaten the parts from within Australia to my doorstep. I prefer to support local businesses but a lot of what I buy just isn't in the country - but the examples I refer to above don't help warm you to Australian service!!
BTW, the service you used was USPS (United States Postal Service). UPS is in fact a massive courier service that is great within the USA but will cost about double what USPS costs if you have something sent to Australia from the USA - don't make that mistake - I learnt the hard way!! |

Nah, it was UPS! (United Parcel Service of America Inc) The freight was US$97.00 but they quoted me before I bid on it so I knew what I was up for.
I am probably going to leave some poor feedback for this bunch in Melbourne when I finally get my stuff, but I wonder if they will do the same for me? _________________ Cheers,

Sellers can not leave negitive feedback for buyers , It's only buyers that can leave negitive feedback for sellers.
It changed about 12 months ago _________________ The older I get the faster I was !! |

You threw me when you wrote "UPS (US postal service)" in the first post.
If you use USPS you will fnd it much cheaper!!
I just sent something to Perth and it cost about the same (or a little more) to send it by express post to Perth than it cost to get it from the USA (by USPS in 7 days). If I was prepared to send it to Perth normal post it would have taken 5 working days (which is 7 days anyhow) and it would have cost one third as much. |
