Hey guys I know this isnt about quads, although it is for the purpose of quad transportation, but I just wanted to know if anyone out there knows much about these Mitsubishi Delica's. I saw one fit a polaris predator into the bake via a winch of all things! (it was pretty cool) and was just wondering if anyone out there knows what there like... Thinking might be something good. Don't really wanna go onto a Delica forum coz it'd be full of bias opinions... any one on this site got anything to say about them??? good or bad

not to mention you need little japanese hands to work on them cause they cram a small engine into a smaller engine bay which is in the middle of the car allmost

Just looked them up. They are sweet. Especially the Elgrand Rider model.

well considering that i have a delica and its a royal with all the fruit, turbo diesel and lwb, seats 7 and tows a car trailer full of quads all the time, better than an elgrande, 4wd with diff locks and electronic susension, yes they are tight in the engine bay but are very simple to work on, especially the diesel. laughing

So case can I assume your more than happy with your delica??? Do these elgrande's have a low range transfer case??? I'm a 4wding fan as well as a quad fan so thats why i have an interest in these vans

my old man has one and i had a 2004 triton. both turbo diesel.
when ordering parts for servicing a lot of the gear was identical to the triton as they run the same driveline, so most parts arent a issue.
veery impressed with the delica in soft sand down at the murray mouth.
all in all a great buy with low kays.

We've had ours for 3 years now .1996,hi-roof,8 seater, turbo-diesel ,auto with 2" lift kit and 10r tyres.Around about 130k the air-con. compressor s**ts itself [$1500] , Fuel pump rebuild [$1800] Top tank on the radiator and recovery bottle split [ $400]. Other than these problems it has been a great 4wd for the family . Make sure you buy the later model [+1997 on] as these have an extra 10kw of power and are direct injection .There is a great website [delica club] which has heaps of info on these vehicles . thanks scotty.

Every Grey import you see at a dealers will have "low kays"
Speedo "flicking" is quite common on imports.
Also another thing that people dont think about is that a lot of these cars spent almost all of thier time in busy city traffic. so some may well have a genuine 80 thousand kays. but they have more hours idleing than a 160 thousand kay car would here.... Same applies to "low K jap import motors" people seem to believe that japs buy thier cars just to sit in the shed.... biggest con of all time IMHO but it has caught on... rarely will you here someone mention jap import engines with out saying "Low K" first.

Parts for Delicas (I presume you are talking about the front engined ones ) are generally not too bad, unless they are Delica specific... A/C compressors spring to mind.
WA L300s have very expensive Combination switches, collum auto overdrive switches fail and are hard to find and expensive... (over $100 second hand)

driveline on the diesel 4x4 is basically 90s Pajero, 4m40s are a little fragile in the cylender head and WA L300s header tanks fail early and are expensive to replace ($250 plus from dealers $150 ish aftermarket).

At least the Delica has a local source of some parts in the form of the WA L300 ... where would one get spares easily for the Nissan...

I dunno about speedo "flicking" but I do know that Japs don't do maintenance on thier cars coz they don't hang on to them long enough to care.

A lot of cars in Japan are owned for 30 or 40 thousand klm then they pi55 them off and get a new one. Why change the oil or anything else, I'm not gonna have it long enough?

you must have a good 400 or is it the rider, i trust my bus and know what its capable off, thats the difference in the drivers, and being turbo diesel and auto with full diff locks helps a sh#t load. i' ve never been snatched out of a hole. Rolls eyes
