Good quads the Outty Max........check the 4x4 section, those guys have more experience than me. Your only real choice is the Outty and the Polaris if you want a 2 seater.

A mate of mine has the 800 outlander maxi 2 up, and over easter I had a few issues with my quad so I hopped on the back of his, and I'm a big bloke, so all up between the two of us there was 200kg of human on top of this thing, and it did it easy Very Happy , he said the steering was a lot more heaver than usual Rolls eyes but I felt safe on it the whole time, even when we did off camber stuff , I went to the trouble of trying to "make" the bike feel unstable, and I couldnt, very impressed I was. Did some shitty hill climbs easy peasy. I would have to give the 800 maxi 10/10, a great bike, just make sure you get a decent dealer eek if your in Victoria only go to the colac motorcycles dealer (wadey) But the can am is the only way to go, I feel.

and for the record I do not own a can am but the best brand going... kwakka. But will gladdly test ride one for a year or two. Razz

pity you only have a choice of 2 2up bikes .

ive got a grizzly 700 and its been great .done 3 long trips with it now over 600km each .

leave in 10days time to travel right around lake Gairdner about 6days travelling .

buy one each your missus would love it .the 550 yam has power steering as well very easy to handle for a girl.

my 10 year old daughter can steer mine in 4x4 lock up .

any way have fun . laughing

Thanks for the input gents. I had a look at the outty 650 max xt and at $14K, a real sweet ride....but then I went to a local polaris dealer to have a look at the 500 and I saw the new Ranger razr-s side by side. WOW what a wicked looking machine, any input or opinions on the razr as it's gonna take alot to convince the missus.
cheers

Ive only just bought the RZR myself but the test ride feedback is very good (good enough to convince me to part with necessary $$), it is very quad like in wheelbase and so performance but the sit in dynamic is WAY different to the sit on dynamic and steering aint as light as your Mazda 121 either, you gotta be moving and practice power slides with a turning circle of 2.5 meters.

Its only as wide as the big fourby's so it will go where they go, theres you tube of this thing doing outrageous jumpups and stuff, some big jumps which people usually feel like they will be bounced off their fourby is perhaps another fun thing to do.

I dont know that the inclusion of a roll cage is a good thing if you dont want to roll it, because you have that safety barrier the ambitious will push it that much further. Because it does feel a little skinny on the wheels the first performance part released for it was wide axle kits. so they released a more extreme version the "S" with that built in.

The only frame brace that seems to be a common thing for even just trail RZR's is a plate at the back ($100) that keeps all 4 IRS point completely aligned, seems the backend can become misaligned in harsh, long term, accidents etc. Though you can get gussett kits for racers.

There is I think more accessories than most quadcycles because theres just one frame size and so people dont need to make generic or many iterations of the same thing. Everything is built to fit and most things that can be thought of and are saleable are on the net.

But try it against a quadcycle first, the exerience is different if the target ride area's are the same.

Have a look at the CF Mto 500A. We just bought one. Good quality, been building components for yamaha and susuki for over 10 years. 1/2 the price of the yank stuff and definetly not 1/2 the bike. Fits bum and wallet.
Well equipped with mags, winch and and 12v supply socket. Still running it in but 2 litres an hour and comfortable ride are pluses....

Its chalk and cheese, Ive got the RZR for quad styling and a Jeep Wrangler if I want it on the road. Both better options in their respective worlds than the Vitara.
