I found when we were only in the ATV club here in WA we couldnt get anywhere except our own club events, mostly social and anywhere over 80+ riders.
For the serious racers its easier to join your local MX club and get your numbers and skill up at your club runs, this year in WA on any given Sunday
allocated in the calendar for club runs{ie no Opens or state rounds}
AJS could have 15+ riders Coastal 15 seniors and 25 Junior quads, Esperance or Kalgoorlie in their series another 15 quads and the North West Round another 12+... all growing their numbers in their local comps, and coming together for State Rounds and Opens to compete travelling sometimes 1000kms round trip, and the Northwest guys 3500kms round trip.
It would cost Our MX club about $1500 to put a club run on, so we need over 80 riders to make a CLUB run viable, State Rounds cost heaps more for First AID, MWA fees per rider plus Permit fee plus track prep, just to name a few expenses, this is why we ride with our solo friends. Also all the work is split between many committees, not just one group of Quad people who very quickly get burnt out. Having said this... jump on your local mx clubs committe and then take the leap and get involved with Motorycling QLD and have a voice{I know Derek does but he's dirt track?}
I'm sure he would be willing to introduce new quad blood to MQLD
It's a long slow process to get in everywhere, but we all know how many quads are out there looking for somewhere to ride and race, we just need to be able to find them and tell them.... yep and convert them _________________ www.waquadmx.com |

Hi Bethwyn
Its a pity more people did not take on board your recomendations and ideas as you are one of the leading players in the most progessive quad state in australia at this time. The Qld Thunder cross series(state championships) eventually introduced quads into their programme in 2001 after many proposals, M.Q.council meetings,bribery and a lot of bullshit on my behalf to get quads established in M.X. to the same successful level as I did in dirttrack. I was also the founding member of the Qld Quad Riders Assoc and was the president of the club until my retirement at the end of 2005. During that time 2003-2005 I introduced and self financed our club "Ironman Series" which consisted of nine rounds (4 x M.X. 4 X dirttrack & 1 X speedway) which piggybacked of other clubs racedays. In 2004 two of the M.X. rounds I piggybacked of the existing Thundercross Series at Toowoomba and at Kingaroy (Natural Terrain) For the first time ever both of these M.X.meetings had a full Capacity grids which also included Dirttrack and speedway quad riders. The series was a resounding success for all disciplines espeacially M.X.
Since I retired from the committee of the Q.Q.R.A. this series just turned to "profanity removed" and was infact abandoned in 2006. The promoting clubs involved in the Thundercross series are the ones that initially gave their support(gave us a go when nobody else would) to the quad movement in Qld and for us now to even suggest not supporting their rounds is downright dispicable and completely Un-Austalian!
Now if some people think that natural terrain is "to rough" then maybe they should be considering dirttrack,speedway, supermoto or roadracing which are all available to quad riders in Qld yet again after many many long hours and huge efforts by myself single handedly. M.X. is actually designed to be rough and I thought that that was its atraction to those that love it ?????
Best Regard
Derek Rumble
P.S. you are missed on the N.Q.A.C. ! |

Hey DC,
I think you've got it the wrong way around. The only reason you're going to race is because I have stopped and Luke is looking at giving it a rest

I still haven't sold the old 450. I think I might have to stick with it for a while. We might have to give Mr DC EXTREME a surprize |

And i was going to make a return to racing this year but I have seen the famous DC 666 in action down at Stockton and he is far superior then us bushies.
There is no use racing now.
I would also like to thank Lez and his crew for helping us out on our Stockton trip. That place rocks and we are already planning another trip down for all the wanna bes as they have now all seen the video footage.
Cheers
