Hi Guys.

I have brought myself a kfx700 but now I need to buy everything else.

I will be riding at stockton mainly but in the future might have access to a hobby farm.

I know about rego and permit.

What I need is advice on Helmet/boots/gloves/goggles. Some helmet and boot prices gave me a heart attack.

Are mx boots practicle for quads?

I would like to buy what I NEED and to spend as little as possible. But I know and take seriously saftey.

I still need to purchase a tralier, 7x5 Any tips?

Im located around bankstown and would like to know which shop I should spend my hard earned at.

Thanks guys

The galvanised trailers with the sheet metal rolled floor(the ones that flex everytime I put me quads on).....about 1.5mm thick.......Not a good idea... I`ve been constantly told that their rated at so much for weight and they`re resistant to rusting but they`re pieces of crap.

EVERYTHING RUSTS if you give it a chance....so a good second hand STEEL trailer is my advice.

On the safety gear - buy the best you can afford.
Must haves - Full length boots, helmet, goggles and gloves. Make sure you buy a set of boot socks as well. They will stop any chafe on your legs from the boots.
Any helmet sold new in Australia from a dealer will be certified. As the price increases so does the comfort level.
With the goggles, look for a set that offers a range of lens choices. If you are going to be riding the dunes you will want either mirror blue or light sensitive lenses. Make sure they fit your face well and also fit into the helmet you choose.
As for the other stuff, a good set of jeans and a long sleeve top thats fairly tough will do. You can buy other ride gear later.
On the trailer, I have a full aluminium 8' x 5' that hasn't been registered yet. 5mm alloy floor and 3mm sides. Full alloy frame on the underside as well. I want a good dollar for it though.

keep an eye out on ebay for a trailer, expect to pay at least $500+ for a half decent trailer. I got a 6x4 trailer and my quad fits in that nice and tight

Ive got a 5x7 and my KFX fits in nicley and has a little room for some gear.

and as for gear, buy the best helmet you can, how much is your brain worth.. and boots, get a good entry level pair, they dont wear out on the quad... Very Happy

i was under the impression that all helmets follow the same safety regulations and your only paying the extra cash for lighter weight and better ventiation. so if you pay $500 for a helmet your brains will be just as safe in a $200 helmet.

That's probably because most pro riders don't have a big pumpkin shaped head laughing laughing

You will find that the more expensive gear is usually a lot more comfortable than the cheaper end stuff especially when you are wearing it for long periods. Good brand mid-range priced gear should last you a while without killing the bank balance too much or compromising on comfort. Buy the best you can afford is pretty solid advice.

I don`t think the quads will fit sideways, I`d see if you could go 8x6 instead.....

1. Get a chest plate..... a good chest plate is almost as important as a helmet.

2. Get a helmet with removeable liner so you can wash the bugger, and wash it in the shower, helmet and all!! A dab of hampoo will make it smell better next time you ride. (better than musty sweat). Go to a shop and try on for at least 5 minutes, make sure it's not too small. If you buy off the net (ebay) make sure it is exactly as you tried on....every brand will fit differently. But be a good boy and buy from your local shop.

3. If you buy cheap boots, like I did, you will kick yourself. After three or four hours in them you will know why you shouldn't have bought cheap boots. When you get them home, walk around on the grass with them for as long as you can, don't scratch them, if they cause you pain you can go back and get the next size up. Once you've worn 'em on the bike, they're yours. You can ride for a while with work boots until you get propper MX boots.

4. For gloves, you can wear riggers gloves or gardening gloves if you want. Your mates will take the pi55 out of you cos you look like a dooffus but it's better than no gloves at all.

5. Goggles...Scott or O'neal brand are pretty good.... make sure you can get replacement lenses and if possible get a pack of tearoffs. Anti fog for inside your goggles will help too.

6. Go get an old crappy trailer but make sure you get good heavy tiedowns. Gorilla Grips are good.

best bang for your buck imo
good cheap helmet rxt $160 better helmet m2r or fox v2 $260
gloves shift or fox both pretty good
boots alpine star tech 3 are a excelent boot for your money with very good ankle protection but look closely at boots some are rubbish
goggles any brand is ok you can pay between $20 to $150 just get what your budget dictates $40 will get you some decent 1s

I would also advice you to grab a kidney belt good for keeping the lower back in shape specially on a quad and some sort of armour, if you can afford it go full mx gear you dont haft to spend big dollars to get some decent gear as some one said MCAS is a good place to get a good deal great range also

we use a 7x5 trailer and we fit a 450 yam quad and a yz on it with all the gear gerry tool box ect
