Hi guys,,,

Would anyone be interested in riding down the main St of Hastings during the Festival Parade. (LEGALY). Then onto the Foreshore at the end of it all. we could park the quads there for a while and do a bit of PR work.
I could put a few people up accomadation wise if needed for people keen to travel.
It could give us a bit of publicity towards Rec Rego.
Obviously we would do the rite thing and wear All of our safety gear.
I'm willing to make some banners ,sign's etc for the cause.

If Pete reads this, could you ask the club if they are interested as well.
I will contact the parade organisers and ask permission tomorrow (Fri 6th)
and will post weather we can or not. I would need numbers to let them know how big it would be.

Any takers ?????

Cheers...Rosco

I reckon you could say there would be 10 or 15 and then put a cap on it at that ( may be a bit much if there are more than that) but I'm sure you would get some representation from the club there

Yeah guys the parade is on the Sat 21st.
I,m still trying to get the go ahead from the organisers.
One thing they have said is we CANT be seen to be making it into a protest type of thing.

Yeah Pete, that would be good. it could give the club (QRCV) a bit of exposure as there are a quite a few quad riders down this way. And hopefully a bit of exposure about our plight towards rec reg.

Kind regards...Rosco

No probs Fossil,

Hope your going up to your property for a ride. I'm going to have to catch up with you guys for a ride one day soon. PS if you need any signage or welding done up there, let me know. Could be a good excuse to get up there for a ride with ya.

Cheers...Rosco.

If it all goes ahead on the Hastings day, I will post pics. on here.

Well guys, we got the nod. If anyone is keen PM me with phone No's and I will get back to you. below is what they sent me as a reply to my questions.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting the Western Port Festival. I am the president of the committee.

We would love for you to attend the parade and you can also have a static display if you like.

I am glad you contacted us because, we were looking for a business or club to lend us some type of vehicle for the weekend. Last year we found it very hard to get from one end of the foreshore to the other then back 100 times a day!. We were going to approach the mower shop as they are a sponsor but if you would like some exposure- Maybe your club may like to help us out??

Come on QRCV. send me some No's. I will make a banner for you. Show me ONE person that wont offer to "Dink" someone LEGALY up and down the main St of Hastings 100 times.....

Cheers....Rosco

Give Mornington kwakka a call, (I think thats them... Confused ) they sponsered the QRCV for years and borrow a side by side for the weekend ??? cant hurt to ask, or get a letter from the organisers stating that you are an offical people for the fair, and your quading as a display for the sport yada yada (read possible sales for the bike shop) and you' like to borrow a side by side covered in their stickers ... thats how I'd do it.

OK Guys, its all organised. All we need now are numbers.
Thanks to the guys who have already said yes, (i will ring you next day or so) I know a quite a few people are affected by/with the fire situation and we all know how you must be feeling. So its understandable some have more urgent commitments. My place in Mansfield was under threat only last night aswell. Anyway, lets get some numbers together, PM me phone No's or EMail address's and I will phone or send more details.
Some details are laid out below.....

Western Port Festival ‘BlueScope Steel Parade 2009’Information
Theme: “Growing up with Western Port”
Date: Saturday 21.2.09
Cost: Free!!!
Assembly Points: Walkers – under the shade of the Pine Trees between Mitre 10 and the Railway Line
Mobile – Frankston/Flinders Service road off of Reid Parade
Arrival: All entrants to be in position no later than 11.30 am
Parade Start 12.20 pm

Judging: Will be done during the parade
Route: Hastings High St from the railway crossing to the foreshore.
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes.
Hints for a Successful Parade
 DO arrive on time. ENTER FROM REID PARADE ONLY. Vehicles need to be in position and stationary by 11:15am. so that
arriving children will not be endangered. Drivers may leave and return later, but they must be ready to start their engines by
12.15pm Saturday 21.2.09.
 DO use your imagination and do your best to display the parade theme “Growing Up With Western Port”
 DO display your organisation’s name boldly on your entry. This greatly assists the judges.
 DO collect your float number on arrival at the assembly point and follow the traffic Marshall’s directions to your position. (A Marshall
wears a red safety jacket)
 DO bring along some sustenance (food and drink) to tide you over while waiting for the parade to start.
 Do go to the toilet before you leave home on the day.
 DO remember to “slip slop slap” no sunburn please.
 DO smile – It truly is contagious
 DO wave, sing and entertain the spectators (The judges are hidden everywhere). Remember you and your club, school or
organisation are on display
 DO your best to depict the Festival theme
 DO keep your float moving at a slow although steady pace to avoid gaps in the parade
 DO follow the Marshall’s instructions before, during and especially after the parade where all entries will form a semi-circle on the
foreshore around the stage area
 DO have a good time and tell your friends to come back next year
 DON’T get upset with parade organisers, we are all volunteers doing our best. We are only human.
 DO NOT THROW SWEETS TO SPECTATORS FROM YOUR VEHICLE Children love to run onto the road to catch them. Some
parade vehicles are huge and drivers just can’t see a small child under their wheels. If you have sweets and or giveaways, walk
along the edge of the crowd and hand them out.
 DON’T go home without your trophy!

Well guys. Went on the Hastings Day ride yesterday.
It was great. We (3 of us, me, the wife and her son) had a ball popping wheelies and doing doughnuts up the main street. Even the local cops said they liked it. We were told there were about 6-7000 people lined up along the road. Most were three deep onto the road itself. I will post some pics up soon. I vidioed the whole ride with my helmet-cam as well and once edited will be fun to watch. The organisers want to get us back next year bigger and better, I hope.
Any other rides comming up ????

Now probs Willow.
They have already asked me to start organising it. This time they are talking about putting a small MX track down on the forshore area to do some demos...Now that would be coooool. It was a shame last year because of the fires just before the event, half of the people that were comming had huge commitments to family, propertys etc so was understandable they could not commit. Hopefully this time we will get a few quads..
