A mates mate just purchased an 04 Polaris Pradator 500cc 4 stroke.

He has never had a quad before, and took it for a quick run this afternoon just to get used to it.

I was offered a ride, and it was guttless. kind of felt like it wouldnt rev, real flat. My feeling was that is could be either one of the cams may be a tooth out.

My Honda 350 ES ag quad stayed with it, it only just pulled away on a straight gravel road due to better gearing (thus a higher top speed.. just).... This does not seem right to me,

I have read previously on this site, about a Yamaha (I think) that had the same kind of problem which turned out to be a problem with a reverse rev limiter, which was not dis engaging. could this bike have the same problem?
Does it even have reverse? I didnt check.

I think it has a standard pipe, they took the spark arrester off the end, and it got louder, but no quicker.

It did have some carby issues when first bought, IE dirt in the jets so that is a good possibility.

It seems to run smooth, with no surging, but also no power.
